Post by: Jamos on December 06, 2014, 08:56:07 AM
Just a reminder for all of you in case you want to record it. ;)

Alabama will play its first true road contest of the season when the Tide travels to Cincinnati, Ohio to take on the Xavier Musketeers on Saturday night at 7 p.m. CT (8 p.m. ET) on CBS Sports Network. It will be the second season in as many years the teams will meet on the hardwood.

With the ESPN and SEC Networks, and FoxSports1, I didn't think I'd need the extra coverage, so I cut out he sports pak and changed to a package that doesn't get CBS or NBC Sports networks.   >:(

I'll be watching football tonight anyway, but would have been nice to record and watch later, or for channel flipping.

37-27 Xavier. Tide looks awful & now Tarrant hurt. Tide taking too many 3's, 4/13 right now. Tide being out rebounded 16-11.

I sneaked a peek and saw Tarrant go down hard and limp over to the bench.

Tide being out-hustled. Levi has not taken a single shot. Xavier 39-27.

I think the final was 97 to 84.  Where was the defense?  :(

They have been AWOL since last year. This was a very ugly loss & we were beat in all areas of the game.

Positives:

84 points scored
23/45 FG's  52.8%
10/23  3 pointers  47%

Negatives:

Defense non-existent
97 points surrendered
Xavier FG 56%
Rebounding 32/22 Xavier
Assists 22/16 Xavier
17 turnovers (Xa. 13)

Next, we play a very good Wichita State team away.

This turnover problem was evident in the USF game.  If you can't play defense, you sure as heck can't be giving the other team extra possessions.

Excellent point. I am getting very worried about this team. Interior defense & rebounding are huge concern. Xavier was driving to the basket uncontested. Taylor HAS to step up.

I thought the team looked very sloppy on both ends of the floor. There wasn't any defense at all and if you don't play defense you better be shooting about 60% from the floor. I watched the last 10 minutes of the game and there wasn't many times that Bama got back on defense after a missed shot which usually led to an easy lay up for Xavier. It was a bad day for the team and one loss doesn't make a season but that kind of a loss sure brings back some old memories from the past three years.

That sentence pretty much sums up the Tide D. The perimeter D was poor, too & our rebounding was unacceptable. Like you stated, flashes of the last 2-3 years have reared its ugly head.
