Title: Playoff Rankings, Bama v. FSU
Post by: Catch Prothro on December 02, 2014, 06:29:59 PM
1. Bama
2. Oregon
3. TCU
4. FSU

So if these stay the next week, it means Bama gets FSU in the Sugar Bowl.

The fix is in, it's all about regions.

Yeah, I thought that too. Move FSU down one more spot so they play in the Sugar Bowl instead of the Rose Bowl.

Or they could make Oregon #1, Bama #2, FSU #3 and TCU #4 and get the same result.    ???

After this weekend when Ga Tech beats FSU and OSU loses I wonder if they will put Baylor in the 4 spot?

Don't forget Baylor has to get past KSU. :popcorn2:

Wow.  Mississippi St. drops to 10 with two road losses against top 12 teams.

Yep.  No way will the SEC have 2 in the playoff.  SEC fatigue is rampant!

Also, it appears that strength of schedule only matters within a win-loss grouping.  All of that talk about s-o-s, and the overall record is what they use for rankings.  How can Michigan State be ahead of Miss State??

Deja vu.

I don't think they are watching all the games.   ???

This is a waste of time.  Why release weekly rankings?  Now they say everything will change after the conference champs are determined.  So, TCU is 'rewarded' to #3 this week, but next week they could drop out if the other 3 (plus Ohio State) win their CC games.

STUPID.

I agree.  I've thought that all along, releasing the rankings so early in the season.  The explanation was that this was the first year, they wanted to be open to the public, needed the practice to learn what they were doing, blah blah blah.

The truth is that they're going to do what they want.  All the explanations, moving teams up or down, the shuffling, is irrelevant -- it only matters who are the top 4 and what are the matchups.

They aren't being transparent unless they tell us the votes, PERIOD.

And it's DUMB to have a 4-team playoff with 5 conferences and a mandate that conference championships are the primary criterion!  You don't need a committee if that's their mandate.
