"He turned the page (in practice Monday)," Alabama safety Landon Collins said. "Like we tell them, we gave him a hug and tell him it's going to be all right. We all have bad games. We all have those type of games. You've got to know how to work around it and move on.

"He told us when we got in our DB group, he said, 'Man I'm sorry for the way I played, it won't happen again.' He's back to regular Eddie." ...

It'd be great if the difficulties of covering those big Aub receivers became a positive for Eddie.

I hope so.  He better bounce back quickly because he will be tested from here on out until he proves himself.

This guy is a player.  He has the tools.
All he needs to do is develop the confidence needed to step up and take control of the position.
I'm hoping the embarrassment of the Aub game will be the stepping stone to his success.

BINGO! He has a huge target on his back now. Guarantee Missouri will come right at him.

If they do, I think he'll burn them. Eddie didn't have enough speed for Coates. Putting in Sylve was a nice adjustment IMO. I told a friend they should put Tony Brown in, but Sylve played pretty well. Both have a more favorable speed matchup with Coates than Eddie does, but he should do well this weekend.

Brown was in for a little bit before they went to Sylve.

Ya I saw him on that TD pass. I can't remember if he was the one who got picked or not, but was hoping CNS didn't hold that against him.

I don't think he was "rubbed" but he did get caught up on the wrong side of the traffic jam.

In fairness, Auburn's got a couple of really good receivers that would be difficult for anyone to cover.

The reason for the high score, several times during the game, Bama put its CBs in single cover against the Barn's receivers, and the Barn tried to cover Cooper with only one DB.

Also, until he threw the interception, Marshall was nearly flawless.  Just before the interception I said something on Twitter about Marshall playing on par with Tebow in the '08 SECCG and Manziel in '12.  For the first two and a half quarters almost every throw was right on the money.

Marshall was railed on last year as "not a passer" but he proved that he actually is pretty good IMO.  Not just against us either.  I just don't think our DB's are as good as what we have come to expect from a Saban-coached defensive backfield.  Next year they should be considerably better I would think.

^^This^^. I thought the same thing. Marshall is an ok all around QB but he's not the consummate passer. He literally dropped those TD passes in shoe box, and in perfect stride. As you astutely recall, this is just like Tibow, and I'll that LSU game that was essentially Mettenberger's coming out party.

Yep, we kept changing schemes to stop the run and make Marshall throw, but their matchups always ended up with single coverage from our DBs.

The Aub WRs are excellent (and soon-to-be NFL); nobody can cover them 1-on-1 all over the field.   :dunno:
