Title: Crimson Tide loaded, motivated by tragedy

HOOVER, Ala. — For months now, they've walked the streets of Tuscaloosa. They've heard the stories, they've passed out water and food, they've lived it.

When tornados tore through the nation, nobody felt it more than the Alabama football team and its coach Nick Saban. They got involved, they helped out, they suffered with friends and loved ones. And now it's time for them to do what they do best -- what many of the victims want most.

"In the state of Alabama, if they had a choice," says Crimson Tide defensive back Mark Barron, "football season would be all year long. It would never stop."

At least, the state has something to cheer about again and 'Bama could leave its followers with an awful lot to be excited about again -- albeit just a diversion from reality for many.

"It just gives people something else to think about," Barron said. "A lot of people don't feel like they have anything anymore."

Added Alabama tailback Trent Richardson: "There's just so many stories, so many things that have happened . . . a baby getting ripped from a mother's arms, things like that."

From Florida Today, a guy named David Jones

In Tuscaloosa, they are just thrilled to be talking about a quarterback battle and life after Ingram -- finally.

Everywhere players walked this summer they were stopped by fans, telling them how anxious they were to get to football season, to get to the point where they have something positive to cheer about.

Winning will definitely give people something positive to hold onto.

True.  It worked for the Saints.

BUT, come to think of it, LSU will be motivated by being ranked behind us by the media.   :(
