Mississippi State can break through against Alabama
Way back in April, Dan Mullen told me about how his program was different.

His Mississippi State Bulldogs were, he said, not like the Alabamas and Floridas of the world. "We’re a developmental program," he explained. Other schools could replace All-SEC veterans with five-star prospects every year, but not Mississippi State.

Instead, Mullen and his staff had to carefully cultivate talent, whether that meant convincing a basketball player to try wide receiver (De'Runnya Wilson), moving a high school quarterback to linebacker (Bernardrick McKinney) or taking a chance on a safety/linebacker tweener who is 80 percent blind in one eye (Matt Wells).
