Title: Alabama-Mississippi State Game
Post by: Marshal Dillon on November 09, 2014, 01:39:02 PM
Interesting and very winnable game for the Tide. Some of my concerns & observations:

1) Misses St. played a total cupcake & could rest key players while we played a slobber knocker

2) Yeldon is probably out for the game. Henry, Fowler, & Tenpenny are it. How will Tenpenny perform? Personally, I think he does very well.

3) Emotionally, can the players be ready after such a game against LSU?

4) I think the Tide D shuts down MSU QB.

5) Can we avoid those untimely penalties, especially Leon Brown?

6) Will haters say "ball game" when we still have a chance?

7) Will haters be called out for stating the obvious or having their own opinions?

Well said M.D.  We can win the MSU game but must have a better/more effective offensive game plan that we showed vs. LSU.

This will be another smash mouth football game.  Get a grip!

It will be a blowout and the debate will be if we should be #1.

I know this because I stole the boogers golden horseshoe and shoved it up my ass.  After the antibiotics, I should be ok.

I think we will beat State by 2 TD's. Here is why:

1. Both teams are good offensive teams. We are much better at home.

2. MSU is not a good defensive team. Throw out cupcakes and only count SEC games. MSU is giving up 25 pts and 460 yards per game. We are giving up 15 pts and 278 yards per game. Big advantage to Alabama.

3. The game is in Tuscaloosa.

4. The pressure of being unbeaten and ranked #1 will be tough for MSU to handle. The pressure catches up to them this week. They have never played in a game this big.

5. We will not have an LSU hang over like normal when we play MSU. The #1 team is coming to our place with our season on the line. We will be ready to play.

You beat me to the punch on their defense. To their credit, it's been a bend but don't break D. If we have stupid penalties and turnovers, we will be in trouble. What do you think of Tenpenny, will he be used a lot or will Henry run the ball 22-25 times?

Yeldon might be back.  It could have been one of those "I fumbled the ball so my ankle hurts" injuries.  Injuries always hurt worse when you make a bad play.

Unlike A&M two years ago, MSU is ranked #1 and is not going to sneak up on Bama following a physically and emotionally draining LSU road win.  The team will be ready. BDS will be rocking.  Bama rolls.

They are #1 and have been for several weeks. We aren't even in the CFP top 4. That's how it has been.....recently. But here how it's always been. We are ALA______BAMA, and they are our comely neighbors to the west, the maroon-headed stepchildren. We ARE college football, and they are always trying hard but never quite get there. So it has been, and so always it shall be. They will walk on to that field Saturday, greeted by 102k screaming fans in a sea of crimson and white and all of sudden they will remember what the past few weeks had caused them to forget. This game will be over after the first drive as long as WE don't forget who WE are.

I think Yeldon will be limited if he plays at all. Henry will get the bulk of the carries but look for another back to step up. CNS likes to rotate backs and keep them fresh. It is an important week for the RB's to show the coaches in practice they deserve playing time.

With Yeldon down, that leaves Henry and Tenpenny. I bet Tenpenny isn't the scout team running back this week. I haven't heard anything on Jones, I'm assuming he's still suspended. :dunno:

According to the Auburn boards, the REC will be too busy paying off the refs to do anything else, that's how we beat LSU. They went crazy when Bama won.

You almost have to feel sorry for them. Their delusions of relevance were fed by an improbable season last year. Coming back to reality is painful, so rather than embracing reality they return to what they've always done: create conspiracy theories and blame everyone but themselves.

You really have to read their boards to see the depth of their delusion, denial of facts, lack of reality and their belief in their overall superiority in all ways to Alabama and their fans. It's truly amazing. Their insecurity is just blaring at you.

On the fumble play, I thought TJY was in serious pain as he was tackled.  I wondered if the pain were so intense it affected his grip on the ball (although that close to the goal line he should have been holding it with both hands.)  It could have been one of those intense pain shots that fades fairly quickly.  Just a guess here.

All of the talk about the barner boards made me realize that I inherited something from BAMAWV.  He had an account on one of them that he was using to stir them up.  He pretended to be an Auburn fan, and they had no idea he was just trolling them.  It was hilarious to read.

Not long before he passed away he told me about the account and gave me the password.  He wanted me to log on and encouraged me to post with it.  I logged on, but never did post.  In hindsight I now see why he wanted to make sure I could log on with it.

On a possible 4-way tie that would send Aubs to the playoffs:

"So we cheer for Bama, Ole Miss and most importantly us. We cheer that the TAM loss somehow makes us better and we win it all. We make it to the ship and it's against fsu and they announce Jw is off the team and Jimbo is fired.

Mississippi State has had a relatively soft schedule, but they're still a great team.  They beat LSU @ LSU in a night game, a game not as close as the score shows (LSU scored two TDs in the final 2 minutes after MSSt. put in their second string.)  They had 570 yard against LSU.  While LSU was not the same team that played Bama, still it was a pretty dominating win.  MSSt. also beat Auburn by 15 points.

I think this will be the best team Bama plays this year.  If it were a road game for Bama, I think State probably would win.  State just played a cupcake and will not be as banged up as Bama.

1.  Home Field.  Advantage Bama
2.  Prior opponent.  Advantage State
3.  QB.  Advantage State
4.  Defense.  Advantage Bama
5.  Playmakers.  Advantage Bama.
6.  Senior leadership.  Advantage State

While I think Bama will win this game, it will be another battle of heavy weights.  The pollsters have State @ #1 for a reason.

What's interesting to me is that they're the #1 team, but we opened as a 6 point favorite.  I realize that the game being at BDS could have a lot to do with that, but still.....

Does anybody remember the last time the #1 team was an underdog?  We were favorites against Notre Dame in the 2012 BCSNCG, but I can't remember if it's happened again since then.

If the Oline can get their blocks Henry will blow msu up.

Fatigue should not be an issue. We have only played the LSU game since our last bye week which was our second bye week of the year. Maybe an LSU hangover but I doubt that too.

Injuries are always a concern late in the year. If Yeldon can not play or is not full speed that will be a blow we have to overcome.

MSU's defense is not very good. We will score a lot of points and I do not think MSU can keep up against our "D". Bama by 2 TD's.
