Take Two (midway point): Tide or Tigers?

The winner of the Iron Bowl has gone to on to win or play for the national championship in each of the last five seasons, and this season was supposed to make it six. The November showdown in Tuscaloosa was thought to be a virtual play-in game for the college football playoff, a winner-take-all matchup similar to last year.
Through the first six games, there's been a slight hiccup by way of the Magnolia State, but it's hard to envision a scenario in which Alabama and Auburn aren't still a part of the conversation when it comes to time to choose the top four teams in college football.
