Can’t argue with that. Rich, powerful and famous people have been getting an unfair shake in this Republic since time immemorial.  It’s a tragedy, really.

He's kidding, right?  ???

The author was indeed making a tongue in cheek comment. But I am not. There is a media led campaign against the American dream in this country. These days, anyone earning over $250k a year is attacked for being greedy, heartless, and evil. If you are not living check-to-check you are the problem and should be forced to give any money unspent on basic necessities to the unemployed and lazy.

While half of his/her income goes to the government he is still belittled, while the 50% in this country that pay no taxes whatsover (only SSI) are somehow revered.  The wealthy donate to the causes of their choice, to the point of making the USA the most benevolent country worldwide. But that is not good enough since it involves personal choice,--an option the liberals will not tolerate. So democrates spend a good portion of each day to drive home their talking points of how anyone with the gall to want to better themselves should be striken down by taxation. This lunacy concerning stealing the money of our successful citizenry spills over into day-to-day bitterness toward these job creators and will spill over into the courtroom. I'll hang up and listen.

The top 10% of earners in our country pay 70% of all income taxes. Those sorry, greedy bums should be paying more since they have it so easy.

Didn't make me cry just reminded me that the Democrats are in charge of this country and where it is going in the hand-basket. RTR!

Good job, MD. These people are so politcally driven they cannot let the founding principles get in the way. Questioning their patriotism? You betcha! Now,-- back to baseball and what is left of the American dream.

I was going in the direction that he was implying that rich, famous athletes are treated unfairly, which we all know is crock. Of all the athetes who have spent real honest time incarcerated, I can think of only one. Plaxico Burris, and that is only because the gun law in NY is not negotiable.

Steroids have no place in the game of baseball (or any sport for that matter) and needs to be cleaned up. But Roger Clemens is not an issue of national importance. Why are we wasting our time and tax money on this guy. Same as with Barry Bonds. Our government needs to get their priorities straight. There are more important issues like this economy that needs their attention.

If he and Bonds go to the penitentiary, it sends a huge message to other players.    8)

I have to agree with pmull. The gov't has no business sticking their nose in the steroids situation. They are not subsidizing the sports world, so they shouldn't be involved at all. There are A LOT more important things that they need to be involved in, such as making the gov't smaller and becoming less intrusive in our lives.

My thoughts exactly. Especially when they somehow feel smart enough to know what is best for college football and the BCS NC.

Sending two guys to jail (and I don't expect either to go to jail) will not stop anything. If baseball wants to stop steroids all they have to do is random drug test. Once someone fails the punishment needs to be severe. You have to fail three drug tests now to get anything other than a slap on the wrist.

The government screwed up and showed the jury a video that was previously determined to not be admissible by the judge. Mistrial. Your tax dollars at work.
