Title: Arizona Beats Oregon! 31-24
Post by: Marshal Dillon on October 03, 2014, 12:00:39 AM
The Arizona running game is going through, around, and over the Oregon defense. 24-14 end of 3rd quarter. No matter how the game ends, Oregon has been exposed and will drop in the polls. Oregon has first & goal to start 4th quarter.

Thanks for the reminder.  I forgot that game was on tonight.  I turned it on for the finish.

24-17 Arizona, but Oregon driving & scores. 24-24 all. 8:21 left in game. I think Oregon was a 23 point favorite.

Been going between Packers/Vikings, Baltimore O's/Tigers, KC/Angels baseball, and Oregon/Arizona. I'm getting blurry-eyed. Royals beat  Angels, Packers killed Vikings, O's slaughtered Tigers, and now this game.

I watched the Packers until they took Lacy out at the start of the 4th.

Arizona just picked up a critical 3rd and 20 by running right up the middle for about 23 yards.

Wow. So far, Oregon has 32 missed tackles. Some great D, uh? Arizona just got a first down on a 3rd & 20 by running the ball for 24 yards.

Can you believe that unsportsmanlike call?  Talk about a game changing penalty.

Stunning penalty & timing. If Ducks lose, that was the game changer.

This is one of the games I wanted for our pick 'em, but I was told that Zona would get run out of the stadium.

Penalties are killing Oregon at such key times of the game. They just had a great return but now they end up on the 9 yard line due to a penalty. Amazing.

Arizona 31  Oregon 24 with 2:23 left & Oregon on the 35. Timeout Zona.

I think he got that ball away before he was down.  Yes, they are saying it is a fumble.  Arizona has the ball deep in Oregon territory.

WOW!

Fumble by Oregon but I think it gets it overruled. I didn't see a fumble.

Whoa, ruled a fumble by the replay officials. 2:07 left and Oregon has 1 timeout left. I bet Arizona breaks a long run.

The Ducks are done.

Arizona getting VERY conservative but Zona RB somehow gets a first down after having 3 defenders hanging on him.

Well, mighty Oregon is going down in flames. 31-24 Arizona wins.

Same thing every year.  Oregon lets it slip away in a game they should have won.

Their defense is crap & their O-line can't stop an 8th grader from getting to the QB.

"O" stands for "Overrated."

The entire PAC12, and especially Oregon.

Maybe mighty UCLA will be their playoff team...  or Arizona.   :lol2:

I don't remember anyone saying that... maybe you were sniffing glue.

In the past we had a discussion to get to ten games.  SC took my initial list and turned it into a poll.  So I'll need to be more inclusive in the future, instead of relying on suggestions.

You'll notice, though, that none of the PAC12 games received many votes, only Stanford v. ND made it.  I'm not a fan of the PAC12, but I voted to include a game because I like to keep tabs on what is happening over there.

Yes, good job, guys. I didn't think it would be Arizona beating them. Oregon doesn't usually ship the bed until they play Stanford.

This will make LF very happy (when she awakens).  She's an Arizona alumna, and last night said she doubted they could compete with Oregon.  For once I was right; I predicted a close game!  :lol2:

My dad was a guest faculty member at Arizona for a year in their College of Optical Sciences -- he's a laser researcher.  So I spent a year in Tucson in HS.   Go Wildcats!

For all the hype that the Quackers get, especially the many varieties of uniforms they wear, they sure didn't impress me as being the dominant team that they've been made out to be. I do agree the Pac 12 isn't that potent as the Big 10 isn't this year. The sad part of all of this is the fact that the teams of the SEC will now begin to beat each other and the argument will be the SEC isn't as good as advertised.

Arizona shut Oregon down in the first half. It was 10-3 at the half. The game was at Oregon and Zona shut the crowd completely up. They are so used to seeing Oregon running up 50 points with ease, they could not deal with a close game. Mariota was a non-factor while Zona was using a freshman QB. Oregon still can't play defense.

Hype is the perfect word for how Oregon is described each season before they crash & burn. They run up the score on a bunch of teams & the sports writers swoon and gush over them. Washington State almost beat them & exposed them but it wasn't mentioned much.
