Title: Ole Miss player: 'We don't think Bama is as good as they have been'
Post by: bama57 on September 28, 2014, 05:06:14 PM
2 Alabama travels to No. 11 Ole Miss next Saturday. Probably the biggest game of the season so far. "College GameDay" is making its first-ever trip to Oxford. The winner gets a leg up in maybe the toughest division in college football history. What more could this game possibly need?

Oh, that's right. It needs some BULLETIN-BOARD MATERIAL (last year's, by Rebels quarterback Bo Wallace, was a little bland). Ole Miss safety Cody Prewitt obliges:

We understand that we haven't played a team that's going to be as good as Bama. But we don't really think Bama is as good as they have been. And we're better than we have been. We're looking forward to getting to the game plan and really nailing down all the tweaks and stuff that we're going to have to put into

Just the locker room inspiration the team needs.

Have you noticed the last few years when a fan base or player states "we want Bama," they usually get it in spades?

I was thinking something similar, 42-17, 45-14, 45-21, etc.

[/quote]Better than they have been?  Really?  If that is the case, why did they get held to only 7 points until nearly 9 minutes left in the 4th quarter against Memphis this past Saturday?  To me Ole Miss hasn't looked as good as they were last year... but that could just be me...  :dunno:

Hope you guys are right. Frankly, I'm not so sure. Don't think Ole Miss was up for Memphis St.

My bet is they had this date circled on their calendar since last year.

If  this is not a slobber knocker, I will be very surprised.

28-17 in a game we'll be glad to see the clock strike 0.

I am more worried about State. Ole Miss seems to have been spent too much time reading their own press clippings. I believe we will be fully prepared for this, and that they will not be.

Very good Post! State is returning 18 starters and they are hungry. We will know more about them after the outcome of the Texas A&M Game! Plus State had a week off to get ready for A&M which sometimes helps and sometimes hurts!

I remember a day when a player spouted off the coach would go crazy. Now a days it seems if they aren't running their mouths the coaches get confused. I remember something Coach Bear Bryant said " Go out there and play like Champions." They did and won games on top of games. RTR!

Cody Prewitt, Let Your Play Do The Talking
by Chris Hale 1h ago  From Chris Hale Bama Hammer

Many athletes now take to the media to say things when in reality, they should let their play on the field do the talking. Ole Miss defensive back Cody Prewitt is the latest to do so.

Shortly after the Rebels’ 24-3 win over the Memphis Tigers, Prewitt may have provided a bit of bulletin board for the Tide.

“We understand that we haven’t played a team that’s going to be as good as Bama,” Prewitt told FoxSports.com. “But we don’t really think Bama is as good as they have been. And we’re better than we have been. We’re looking forward to getting to the game plan and really nailing down all the tweaks and stuff that we’re going to have to put into Bama.”

Yeah, it’s not really all the bad but it probably can give a little more motivation for the Crimson Tide. It’s certainly not as bad as what Rebels quarterback Bo Wallace said before the game last year.

“Yeah, I think we can put points on them,” Wallace said, according to AL.com. “I think we can put points on anybody. We just have to show up and play. It’s the same thing every week, let’s stay on schedule, control the tempo and don’t have any turnovers.” We all knew how that turned out which was the Rebels being shut out last year.

It seems the ones that always make these types of statements are the teams that lack discipline on the field. The Rebels had 10 penalties on Saturday against Memphis including a flag and ejection for this one.

You would figure that in some point in time they would learn not to let that alligator mouth over run that humming bird arse!!!!!!

Here's what was said last year before the 25-0 beatdown:

"Hugh Freeze's kids won't be intimidated by the Crimson Tide faithful. In fact, they'll be more than ready.  On September 28, the Rebels will secure the first marquee win of the Hugh Freeze era.  It's a monster trap game for the defending national champs, and Ole Miss will immediately become the talk of the college football world after downing Saban's club in T-Town..." (Bleacher Report)

"Saturday’s game will be a great one. Two very good teams are ready to play 60 minutes of hard-nosed football. The Rebels have had an off week to prepare and get players healthy, and their fans have had an extra week to get mentally prepared as well. There’s no question in my mind that Ole Miss could win this game, but Alabama is certainly going to give the Rebels all they can handle.  So will the Rebels win? Can they sneak up on Alabama like Johnny Football and Texas A&M did last year? My head tells me no, overwhelmingly so, but my heart says the Rebels have a chance. Maybe this game will be the start of something truly magical for Ole Miss.

Prediction: A low scoring, defensive dominated affair ends with Alabama beating Ole Miss 17-10."  (Memphisport)
