Title: Head Coach Fired-Not Surprising Considering Who It Is-UPDATE-New Replacements? Post by: Marshal Dillon on September 28, 2014, 11:08:40 AM The dominos start to fall for coaches on the hot seat.
Quote After he won only one Big 12 game during his tenure at Kansas, the Jayhawks have fired head coach Charlie Weis. He was in the third year of a five-year contract. Defensive coordinator Clint Bowen will take over as interim head coach, athletic director Sheahon Zenger said. http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/11605447/kansas-jayhawks-fire-charlie-weis-lack-field-progress Title: Re: Head Coach Fired-Not Surprising Considering Who It Is Post by: 2Stater on September 28, 2014, 11:13:22 AM Taking the Kansas job is the kiss of death, especially for someone as inept as Jabba the Gut.

Incredible that KU hired him after he flopped so badly at Notre Dame. His rep from the Patriots and winning 3 Super Bowls carried him a long way. Now, he will either stay a coordinator or, God forbid, become an analyst for college football. I can see it now, him and someone like Chiznik being on the TV explaining what coaches need to do to be successful and what plays to call.   Title: Re: Head Coach Fired-Not Surprising Considering Who It Is Post by: BAMADCHAMPSHIPS on September 28, 2014, 01:33:49 PM Looks like it might be Lane's next move. :tinfoil:

They need to be looking at a successful high school coach or such. (No offense, hscoach) :lol2: Title: Re: Head Coach Fired-Not Surprising Considering Who It Is Post by: hscoach on September 28, 2014, 01:55:53 PM Looks like it might be Lane's next move. :tinfoil: I just don't see anyone with good sense taking the Kansas job. They need to be looking at a successful high school coach or such. (No offense, hscoach) :lol2: List of possible candidates: Quote Kansas fired head coach Charlie Weis Sunday after a rocky tenure in Lawrence, leaving the former Notre Dame head coach with a 6-22 record in his time with the Jayhawks. It's one of the toughest jobs in the major conferences -- they've only made consecutive bowl games once in 123 years of football, and the state isn't exactly known for producing top-tier talent -- but someone's gonna get an opportunity. So who will it be? Let's break down some of the most likely candidates: Quote Tim Beck: Offensive coordinator, Nebraska A former high school coach in Texas, Beck's recruiting ties in Big 12 country make him a strong candidate. While with the Cornhuskers, he's brought in high-value recruits from the Lone Star State and Heisman contender Ameer Abdullah from Alabama, according to Rivals. And before being hired by Nebraska in 2008, he was the wide receivers coach at Kansas for three seasons. The Cornhuskers' offense hasn't been consistent -- in his three years, they've ranked 37th, 8th and 46th, respectively, in offensive S&P+ -- but they've won at least nine games in each year he's been with the program. Why it could work: Beck has ties to the program and the conference, and was the passing game coordinator for the Jayhawks' historic 2007 Orange Bowl season. Why it might not: Beck's offenses and recruiting have been just fine at Nebraska, but the Cornhuskers haven't quite been able to make it over the nine-win hump. http://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2014/9/28/6856785/kansas-football-coaching-search-charlie-weis |
