Title: Video of Ray Rice knocking out his fiancée.
Post by: Chechem on September 08, 2014, 05:56:25 AM
Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice is serving a 2-game suspension after he punched his fiancée in an elevator of an Atlantic City casino.  This happened last February, and they're now married (  :dunno: ), but the video was just released.  Pretty graphic, so....

NOT APPROPRIATE VIEWING FOR KIDS.

That 2 game suspension ought to teach him a lesson.  :eyeroll:

Don't let Clowney hear about this.  If that "possible" MCL issue doesn't work out for him he may use this as his backup plan to get out of practice.  HIDE YO WOMEN!!!

Ray Rice Cut By The Baltimore
Suspended Indefinitely By NFL After Elevator Video Leak

BALTIMORE -- Ray Rice was let go by the Ravens on Monday and suspended indefinitely by the NFL after a video was released that appears to show the running back striking his then-fiancee in February.

The grainy video, released by TMZ Sports, apparently shows Rice and Janay Palmer in an elevator at an Atlantic City casino. Each hits the other before Rice knocks Palmer off her feet and into a railing. An earlier TMZ video showed Rice dragging Palmer, now his wife, from the elevator at the Revel casino, which closed Sept. 2.

The Ravens said earlier Monday that they never saw the new video. Hours later, they sent out a one-sentence release:

"The Baltimore Ravens terminated the contract of RB Ray Rice this afternoon."

The NFL also took action, saying on Twitter that commissioner "Roger Goodell has announced that based on new video evidence that became available today he has indefinitely suspended Ray Rice."

So, you're saying that the video posted on Crimson Red Sports led to the dismissal of Ray Rice.  Nice!  8) 8)

What get's me is that Rice ADMITTED to striking her and knocking her out and only got a 2 game suspension. I guess they didn't believe him. So now they have video evidence that he knocked her out and KAZOWIE!, NOW they choose to cut ties with him. I guess the original video of him dragging her limp body from the elevator wasn't enough.

CHEEZ!!!     :HUGE EYE ROLL:

Hard for him to deny it, but I guess there are players who would!
Clearly, it was public opinion that changed the NFL's decision.
Big money and sports heroes are a powerful combination.

The networks are talking this to death.
People are actually arguing (yes, arguments) about whether there are any circumstances in which men could hit women legally (MY GOD!).
Last night I turned on Sirius radio, and all 3 ESPN stations were talking nothing but this.  This morning, it's all over the news shows, Mike-and-Mike, everywhere; was the lead story on CBS Evening News last night.  SIGH!

I'm sorry I posted it now!   :-[

I don't know about the legalities of it, but I'm launching some uppercuts if I see this coming.  :dunno:

There has to be something in Ray Rice that is a lot more deeper than anybody can imagine. To harm another person like that is just 5th floor crazy. I know he needs a lot of prayer and support because the wrong one has a hold on him. JMHO. RTR!

OK, speaking as a Ravens fan, I have to say something.

I have always been taught, as you guys have, that you never strike a woman. What Ray did was beyond inexcusable, and I think that he should be cut and suspended. Interestingly enough, his wife Janay is staying with him and continues to defend him. Now, the overwhelming pessimist in me sees this a couple of ways: 1) Ray has scared the crap out of her so bad that she feels she has no other choicer; or 2) She thinks that such a stance could help him down the road so that NFL gravy train doesn't stop. The slight optimist in me, though, believes that they truly love each other and that, in their eyes, it was an isolated incident. Whatever the case, so far, she is going Tammy Wynette on this situation.

What really bugs me is how much the team and, more importantly, the NFL knew before the video came out. As it has been pointed out NUMEROUS times up here the last few days, the NFL has A LOT of power. You're telling me Roger Goodell and his entourage couldn't get this tape before hand and see what really happened, but TMZ could? Nope, don't buy it. I think ol' Rog should be in deep doo-doo over this, personally.

I am much more depressed over the way the team has handled this so far. The same for them goes for the NFL. How is it that had not seen this video so far, even though a MEDIA OUTLET could get their hands on it? Why haven't some of the higher ups in the organization talked about this yet instead of sending Harbaugh out to basically say he couldn't say anything? Where is Stever Bisciotti (the owner)? Where is the team president? And I really, REALLY hate to say this one, but where is Ozzie?

I never give up on a team. The Ravens sucked for a number of years before Harbaugh got there and I stuck with them. I was there for the two Super Bowl victories as well. You stand by a team through good and bad (we as Bama fans should know this VERY well). Yet, I stand today a fan who is thoroughly disgusted with a (former) player and with his team.

If nothing else, I can use this as a teaching moment with my son to remember how to treat ladies.

Absotively! The place where it happened said the NFL never asked for any video.

The Associated Press reported on Wednesday that an unnamed law enforcement official claimed an NFL executive was sent the video of Ray Rice punching his then-fiancee back in April, three months before it was released to the public by TMZ.

In response to the report, the NFL issued a statement denying knowledge of the video being sent.

"We have no knowledge of this," NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told ESPN. "We are not aware of anyone in our office who possessed or saw the video before it was made public on Monday. We will look into it."

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell had claimed on Tuesday that "no one in the NFL, to my knowledge" had seen the video of Rice punching his then-fiancee and now wife in the elevator of an Atlantic City, N.J. casino until Monday.

A bombshell was dropped on the NFL on Wednesday when a law-enforcement official told the Associated Press that a copy of the video showing Ray Rice punching his then fiancée in a casino elevator had been sent to an NFL executive in April.

The source played a voice mail for the AP from an NFL office number in which a female voice allegedly acknowledges having received the video and says, "You're right. It's terrible."

If true, Roger Goodell cannot remain commissioner of the NFL and will likely be forced to resign in the coming days.
