Title: Devotional 7/4/11 by Jack Graham Post by: ricky023 on July 04, 2011, 10:29:53 AM "Psalm 80:7 Restore us, O God of hosts; let your face shine, that we may be saved!"
Today we celebrate the 235th birthday of our nation. And our nation, which was born in 1776, needs to be reborn today. It’s time in America for revival—for God to move in miraculous power. We need the kind of revival that shakes this nation from sea to shining sea! What we have in today’s passage is a plea from a man who loved his country, who would stand even as we’ve stood to honor the flag and honor the nation. But in his heart he knew the great need of his nation to turn back to God. But where does that kind of change begin? In the late 1800s, there was an evangelist named Gipsy Smith who traveled the world. One day, a group of people from a nearby community came to him and said, “We so desperately want to see revival in our area. What should we do?” So Gipsy told them, “Go home. Lock yourself in your bedroom. Take a piece of chalk. Put a circle on the floor of your bedroom. Kneel in that circle and pray fervently and brokenly that God will start revival in that circle.” If you want to see revival in America, let one begin in your heart today by asking God to renew your resolve to love him and to love others! |
