During the second quarter, Saban noticed Sims was getting a bit frazzled and was letting the play clock run down too much before snapping the ball. Saban said he suggested to Kiffin that Alabama run out of a no-huddle offense to "make it a lot simpler for him."

Sims regrouped and finished with some of the best statistics (24-33, 250 yards) ever for an Alabama quarterback making his starting debut.

"Really helped Blake manage the game, very involved," Saban said after the game. "Even helped him with some of his checks being on the sidelines, which is what we thought. That's why we put him there because that's what we thought he could do to affect the game." ...

"DAMMIT, LANE, RUN THE NO HUDDLE.  NOTHIN' ELSE SEEMS TO WORK FOR HIM!"
