Title: From AL.com Alabama exercising caution with DE A'Shawn Robinson as he deals with Post by: Peewee from Grand Bay on August 07, 2014, 08:56:44 PM TUSCALOOSA, Alabama -- Alabama defensive lineman A'Shawn Robinson, a preseason first-team All-SEC selection, is dealing with a sprained knee but won't require any surgery, coach Nick Saban said after Thursday's practice.
Robinson, a menacing 6-foot-4, 320-pound sophomore, was not seen at Thursday's indoors practice or either of Wednesday's two sessions. He likely won't be seen for the next few. "It's probably going to take a few days before we get him back out there – maybe as much as a week or so," Saban said. "We're saying he's kind of day-to-day, but we're going to pretty cautious with this kind of thing, especially at his position because it's not easy to function as an inside player if you have a sprained knee. We're going to be pretty cautious with him." Robinson, who led Alabama with 5.5 sacks as a true freshman last season, has been almost exclusively working with the first team since the start of spring football. After spending the spring at his traditional end position, Robinson was primarily seen at nose guard during open viewing periods before his injury. In the past, Robinson has played from the middle of the line in nickel and dime formations. Before Jarran Reed and Brandon Ivory returned from their respective suspensions Thursday, Alabama was without its entire first-team defensive line from April's A-Day game at practice. Along with the recognition he received from SEC reporters, Robinson landed on preseason watch lists for five different national awards. I am sorry but I still don't know how to make this show up right on here. Some schooling would be helpful!! Yep, it's starting just like last year; too many injuries in key areas. Full-speed practices are necessary, but not worth the loss of key players. I remember a few years back when a certain head coach at an SEC school (whose name started with a T; synonym for fatty) sat the key players during scrimmages to keep them healthy. It worked. Guess we're left just wishing for injury luck. :dunno: Title: Re: From AL.com Alabama exercising caution with DE A'Shawn Robinson as he deals with Post by: SUPERCOACH on August 08, 2014, 05:20:05 PM Put this in your post:
