Title: More on UNC Academic Scandal
Post by: Marshal Dillon on July 08, 2014, 11:23:55 PM
I refuse to believe this until I hear UNC & the NCAA admit to it.

 :dunno:

Rashad McCants was back on the radio Monday, elaborating on the North Carolina academic scandal and discussing any potential contact with the NCAA.

On Friday, in an interview on Sirius/XM radio with Mark Packer, McCants said that he had no contact with the NCAA or UNC regarding his allegations of academic misconduct during his time as a player with the Tar Heels.

According to McCants, North Carolina and the NCAA have pulled out the check book to try and make things right.

via News & Observer/Charlotte Observer:

“The question is what are we talking about, honestly. I mean I have a check being written to me from the University of North Carolina for over $10 million due to the exploitation of me as a player and the lack of education that I received. The NCAA has a check for me for over $300 million to help me facilitate these sports education programs across the country. These are things that's in the works.”

Very hard to believe. Can you say "pathological liar"? I don't think this guy's got all his marbles.

McCants has let the attention get to his head.  He's an idiot.

Bottom line: after 2 years, a couple of faculty came forward with more allegations.  The UNC faculty and students were embarrassed by this whole BUTCH mess.  They wanted it cleaned up during 2012, but it's dragged on after Butch was fired.  Now it may finally be done.  Expect more heads to roll (basketball too).

Remember when we predicted this back 2 years ago?  http://www.crimsonredsports.com/index.php?topic=3159.15

UNC is too strong academically to allow this to continue.  Expect announcements of cleaning up before the end of August.  The NCAA may not have to do anything after the academic folks clean house.

Success can sometimes have a big price tag with it and it looks like North Carolina has a big price to pay for theirs. ;)

You really think they dump Roy Williams? Of course, with them underperforming on the floor lately, that might make it easier to fire him.

Here's some more info on the UNC academic schedule. Be sure to read link.

Julius Nyang'oro, the former UNC professor at the center of the academic fraud case that's been exposed for three years at the school, got a win on Thursday.

Nyang'oro was facing a felony charge of "obtaining property by false pretenses" from the state, but that charge was dismissed, according to multiple reports. Orange County DA Jim Woodall released the verdict, giving Nyang'oro relief from any local prosecution. Nyang'oro reportedly has been helping authorities in other investigations; this involvement reportedly led to his release from prosecution in his primary case.
