Post by: pmull on July 06, 2014, 08:04:34 AM
Former Tide player Michael Thomson will be in the next to last group off in today's final round. He shot a 64 yesterday to put him at T4 at -8. The leader is -12.

Jason Bohn is at -5 T19 and Bud Cauley is -3 T43.

Bobby Wyatt missed the cut by 1 stroke for the second week.

This tournament is being played in White Sulphur Springs, WV. BAMAWV would be proud.

Bud Cauley had the best finish of the Bama players. He shot a 64 that included an ace on the par 3 18th. He finished at -9 in T4.

Michael Thompson shot even par today and finished at -8 which was good for T11. Jason Bohn shot a 67 that got him to -8 and T11.

Good finishes and pay days for the former Tide players.

Angel Cabrera shot a 64 to win with a final score of -16.

Bud had a hole in one today and finished tied for 4th at -9. Thompson and Bohn finished tied for 11th at -8. Good tourney for the Bama boys.

Joe Durant, a local boy here, who just started the senior tour, was also one of those at -8.

Cauley's T4 finish was good for a $227,036 payday. The T11 guys got $137,800.

Bud and Michael needed a good payday. Both are starting to show some life on the tour now. I hope they keep it up. Both have a great deal of talent.

Justin Thomas is having a good year on the Web.com tour. He is 7th on the money list with 4 top 10 finishes in 11 events. The top 25 get their tour cards for next year. We are a year or two away from seeing several guys from Bama in contention on Sunday afternoon on a regular basis.

From what I heard on the news tonight, all of the fans who were at the tournament Sunday was awarded $100 each for Cauley's hole in one, I'm betting he just got a lot of new fans.

He was playing with Tom Watson. Can you imagine hitting a hole in one and have Tom Watson witness it and congratulate you? That had to be quite a thrill for Bud.
