Title: Michigan State Being Overshadowed in Big Ten Post by: Marshal Dillon on June 22, 2011, 07:38:32 PM Good article about the Spartans. I like this statement from the article:
"I think our performance in the bowl game against Alabama silenced any of those thoughts about us relaxing," Cousins said, referring to the Spartans' 49-7 loss to the Tide in the Capital One Bowl. "We came back with a chip on our shoulder and the realization that we're not among the nation's elite." http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/football/ncaa/06/15/michigan-state/index.html?sct=cf_bf2_a6 Title: Re: Michigan State Being Overshadowed in Big Ten Post by: BAMAWV on June 22, 2011, 07:45:18 PM A comment made by one Sparty on one of their boards after, or maybe during the MSU-BAMA game, was something to the affect of, "I've never really seen a team beaten on every single play of the game". LOL
Title: Re: Michigan State Being Overshadowed in Big Ten Post by: pmull on June 22, 2011, 07:52:33 PM Another Sparty statement after the game was " They are going to name a wing of the hospital after us. I have never seen as many players carried off the field."
Title: Re: Michigan State Being Overshadowed in Big Ten Post by: Jamos on June 22, 2011, 08:04:38 PM Bama was a very good team that day.

That was a good one.Title: Re: Michigan State Being Overshadowed in Big Ten Post by: pmull on June 22, 2011, 08:21:39 PM Bama was a very good team that day. Bama was healthy and hungry. Nobody would have beat us that day. Title: Re: Michigan State Being Overshadowed in Big Ten Post by: Marshal Dillon on June 22, 2011, 09:24:30 PM Bama was a very good team that day. Yep, mainly because we didn't play to not lose and opened up the offense. :D Title: Re: Michigan State Being Overshadowed in Big Ten Post by: TtownBound on June 22, 2011, 10:07:32 PM What was the one about "playing an NFL team" when referring to Bama. That one made me laugh.

That one made me laugh. I give the Spartan fans a huge thumbs up for their funny disparaging remarks about their team against Alabama. I doubt many of our fans would be so funny and respectful if the score was reversed. ;) Title: Re: Michigan State Being Overshadowed in Big Ten Post by: BAMAWV on June 23, 2011, 05:15:17 AM What was the one about "playing an NFL team" when referring to Bama. I doubt many of our fans would be so funny and respectful if the score was reversed. ;) That comes from a whole other mindset about winning. The "used to losing" attitude makes it easier to laugh off a loss. I am glad our fanbase does not have it. Title: Re: Michigan State Being Overshadowed in Big Ten Post by: crtuneman on June 23, 2011, 08:12:54 AM It's going to be hard for MSU to repeat their success of last year with only one returning OL starter. A tested, talented OL is absoultely essential; you can't be successful without one.

Not easy replacing 2 OT's, both vital positions. I think overall they have 11 returning starters, but they lost all three of their starting linebackers. So basically, they lost almost all the key ingredients of their team except the QB. Tough to recover from. Plus, they have schools like OSU, Penn State, Wisconsin, & others raiding the state for talent. I think this coch is for real but won't know for another 3 years. If they can go 9-3 or 10-2, then they are building the program. If they go 7-5, 8-4, then it's Tommy Tuberville coaching, up & down.
