I thought this was funny from the Ttown news.

Quote
Brazil – Alabama: The big kahuna. Always the favorite, never an underdog, no matter where they play, no matter who they play.

Quote
Germany – Ohio State: Tradition of excellence and supremacy. Will dominate until paired against other excellent teams.

England – Notre Dame: Great tradition, great fans. Should be good. A lot of people hope they are good. They are no good.

Italy – LSU: Traditional powerhouse. Some years better than others, but always a very tough team to play against. Also, prone to caring as much about their appearance as the game itself.

One more:

Quote
Portugal – Texas A&M: A really good team that highly depends on the brilliance of one player who is amazing on the field and amazingly frustrating off of it, and without whom they would be an average team.

"I don't care who you are, that's funny right there!"

The one about England/Notre Dame was a riot!

This is an absolute-on-the-money breakdown and comparison of World Cup teams & college football programs. Love the Ohio State/Germany and England/Notre Dame comparisons. They nailed it perfectly. Great stuff!

The US plays Ghana today.  Ghana has knocked the US out of the World Cup twice now.  So this is a tough game with the US as the underdog.

According to the comparison chart:

Quote
Ghana – Michigan State: A reputable competitor that will be a tough game for any team facing them.

Quote
United States – West Virginia: They sound better on paper than they really are. Teams that have to play them give them respect, and quietly rejoice that they do not have to play someone else.

WV v. MSU, that's definitely an underdog role.

Team USA beat Ghana yesterday, 2-1, on a late goal.

Maybe we're the WV of the RichRod era?

Next up is Portugal, which lost to Germany 4-0.  Germany shut down their superstar.
