Title: Atlanta Braves & 2014 MLB Draft-Very interesting, With Quirky Picks
Post by: Marshal Dillon on June 09, 2014, 09:48:23 PM
The Braves first pick was a left-handed power hitter & OF. They way his arm is described he would be a right fielder with that throwing arm. Left handed power hitters are a big commodity, especially for the Braves.

Selections 2, 3, & 4 are RHP's, and all large, 2 are very large. The 2nd pick is 6'4" and a power pitcher. But he is a midget, the next 2 pitchers are 6'7"/6'8" and the 3rd is 6'7"/6'/6". Also, power pitchers. Obviously the Braves have adjusted their focus more towards power pitchers.

Selection 5 is a LHP, normal size at 6' 190#. He throws a very good sinker.

Selections 6 CF, 7 2B, 8 RHP, 9 3B, 10 1B, 11 RHP

So 6 of their first 11 choices were pitchers. I am not going thru all 40 picks but they picked:

19 Pitchers, 15 RHP & 4 LHP
 6 Outfielders
 3 Catchers
 4 1st Basemen
 2 Shortstops
 5 2nd Basemen
 1 3rd Baseman

The #1 pick probably is already a better hitter than BJ Upton & Dan Uggla.

:lol2: :lol2: :lol2:  I was thinking the same thing. We probably should have used more higher picks for hitters.

Well the question is though, do you think the Braves will trade Upton or Uggla? I wonder. RTR!

Who would take Uggla with his huge contract and minuscule hitting? He will be let go, more than likely.

You Freddie has really surprised me. I thought he would be a lot better manager than he has shown us. Maybe my first impression was very wrong. RTR!
