Alabama and SEC fans will need the SEC Network this fall to get full coverage of all our sports including football. Currently my cable network, Charter, is not signed up to provide SEC Network coverage. I do not think Direct TV is either. Dish is signed up. Is your cable or satellite company signed up to provide the SEC Network? If not, you need to contact them.

Yeah. I have DTV and keeping my fingers crossed that they add it before the season.  >:(

I feel certain DTV and major cable company's will have it before it kicks off in August. I just wonder how much extra they will charge us.

Has anyone heard or read if it will be extra or just included in regular packages? I've looked all over, but haven't found out yet. Also if anyone runs across the channel number, post that too.

No word yet, but I'll go out on a limb and predict: COST INCREASE!   :lol2:

The channel number will probably be in the low 200's, close to the ESPN channels, I would think. Or they may throw it in the 600's like some of the other sports networks.

A month ago I took an old TV to the metal-collecting guy here in town.  No money involved, just a good pacle to leave old metal stuff.
 
He said, "It work?" 
Me: "Yep, we just bought 2 big-screen TVs."
Him: "I can't take it for recycle; list of reject items."
Me: "Then I'll forget to load it back in my car.  You can take it or leave it there."

Hard to know where DTV will put it.  Big10 Network is in the 600s.  Network sports networks, NBCSports, etc., are in the 200s.

According to Sports Business Daily, distributors are paying $1.40 per subscriber per month for the channel within the SEC's 11-state footprint and $0.25 per month outside of it. The channel will be on expanded basic tiers within SEC territory and digital basic outside of it.

That level of pricing means the SEC Network, the product of a 20-year agreement between ESPN and the SEC, could generate as much as the Big Ten Network and Pac-12 Network combined.

So I guess that means if your cable bill goes up more than $1.40 per month, you can tell how much your provider is gouging you.

Well I just checked my 611 on DTV and it said not available, so I guess I'll have to wait and see. RTR!

Do you get ESPNU or ESPNU HD (channel 208)?  It is supposed to be in the same package that has those, so if you can get those you should get the new channel when it comes on.

I get channel 610, the Big10 Network.  So 611 should work too, once it becomes available.  The announcement said the SEC Network launches on August 14, so might want to check back then.

August 14th!?!? Good Lord its going to be like waiting for fall practice to start all over again   >:(

611 doesn't show up on the channel guide yet and I have the Choice package. I guess they'll wait right up until the 14th to add it.
