Great job on the gifs! Yeah, Phil had that triple on #7 that killed him. They interviewed Bubba Watson after his round and he said the putting is so difficult that he has to concentrate even on the 6 inch putts. He had the only bogey free round yesterday.

Phil had fought back from the triple on #7 to get to +1. He blew up on the back side with a bogey on #14 and a double on #15. The first time at the Masters Phil has ever had two 7's on his card.

I am sure the Master's greens are fast and difficult to putt but these pro's have it made compared to the bumpy inconsistent public course greens I play on.

FRIDAY

Phil got pars on the first 7 holes, then finally sank a birdie on #8: +3 for him.

Kudos to Adam Scott for fighting his way back to -3. Rory had one of those days where everything that could go wrong, did go wrong. Nasty breaks and lipped putts all day. If he can at least par 18, he will make the cut.

My niece and her husband will there tomorrow. They are kind enough to pick up a golf cap and polo for Uncle Merk. My names in the pot but no luck this year.

Going there is on my bucket list. I've been to the city of Augusta and it's surprising that Augusta National is right in the middle of "the hood". I had always thought, up to that point, that it was in the country.

I have never seen Phil's short game fail him the way it did on # 12 yesterday. He was in the front bunker. Sculled his sand shot and ended up in the back bunker. His back bunker shot game out hot and rolled into the front bunker. It is very rare you see a pro knock the ball around like someone with a 20+ handicap.

Bubba still in the lead at -7. Adam Scott at +1 and McIlroy at +3. Jimenez with the low round of the tourney with a 66 and -3 for the tourney. He is 50 yrs old today.

Wow! Bubba grinded all day. He drove the ball extremely well, but left a buttload of putts short. He finished +2 for the day and is tied at -5 with Jordan Spieth. He made a couple of clutch putts on 17 and 18 to stay tied for the lead.

Freddie is still in contention at -1.

There are still 13 players under par and still in contention.

I'm glad to see Freddie play so well.  He's been in contention at the Masters several times in recent years, only to see his chances evaporate on Saturday.

This year he played well on Saturday, and he's right there for a chance to win.  I'd love that.

Bubba is an incredible talent, but he's as emotional as a child.  I don't see how he can hold it together.

Spieth is a child (20 years young), so it'd be tough for him to win.

Bubba has matured a lot. He used to really get down on himself when he had some bad shots, but you really don't see that in him anymore. He kept his composure very well yesterday.

As for who will win it? Whoever gets hot today.  8)

I've enjoyed watching the tournament without Tiger Woods being there, I've had a chance to watch and see how the other golfers have been playing. These young ones really bring a lot to the table, some future superstars.

Even though I wasn't able to watch The Masters in its entirety, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Spieth (aka. The Kid) played like a champion, and Bubba came alive in time to prove himself a winner.  Bubba's tee shots are incredible.  Except for his poor putting and chipping on Saturday, Bubba dominated.  What a talent!

I think we have seen a definite changing of the guard in the golf world. ;)

That's why I posted earlier about how Bubba has matured. In the past, he would have easily let Saturday's round get away, and then tank on Sunday. This weekend, he did not. He hung in there Saturday to make a couple of crucial putts on 17 & 18, to stay in it.
Yesterday, in a 2 hole stretch, he went from 2 strokes down to 2 strokes up, and never looked back.
