BATON ROUGE, La. -- LSU says it has granted reserve quarterback Stephen Rivers' request to transfer after he graduates this spring, allowing him to play wherever he wants next fall.

Apparently, he ain't no Philip.

We've got us a whole nation of whiner QBs.
I blame the new rules that protect them.  Used to be every team needed 2 QBs.  Now only Florida does (and they need 3-4)!   :lol2:

Isn't that the truth! It's become epidemic.

Florida really needs more than 3-4, from both a lack of talent standpoint and an injury standpoint.

I watched Stephen Rivers play for two years at Austin HS. He played there before transferring to Athens his senior year. His dad coached older brother Phillip at Athens. Stephen's dad was re-hired as an assistant at Athens and he wanted to play for his dad like his older brother did.

Stephen was a good HS QB. Good but not great. Everyone was surprised he got a DI scholly. He looked more like a North Alabama or Jax State level QB to me. I was going to be shocked if he ever saw meaningful playing time at LSU.

He was a good kid and I assume he still is. I hope things work out well for him. It looks like he will be leaving LSU with his degree so he has to be happy about that.

I remember the talk about him when he accepted the offer at LSU. I think most everybody was surprised. Looks like he may end up at UNA or Jax St yet.
