The Billikens and Crimson Tide held each other scoreless through the first two innings. In the bottom of the third, it began to rain and Bama scored the first run of the game on an RBI double down the right field line. Senior Clay Smith was able to escape the third without any further damage. However, the game was forced into a 30-min rain delay, pushing both team's starting pitchers out of the game.

After the rain delay, in the fourth inning, reigning Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Year Mike Vigliarolo ripped a two-out single through the left side of the infield. He was driven in on a triple down the right field line from newcomer Danny Murphy. After four innings, the score was knotted up a 1-1...

Let's chalk this one up to first game of the season jitters. Lot's of baseball left to play and improve.

The weather played a role in this loss. Before the rain came, Bama pitcher Turnbull was doing great but after the rain Bama changed pitchers and the momentum changed some. Bama had a runner thrown out at the plate late in the game also, this killed their rally.

That had to be a cold rain. Were you there, J?

No, Valentines Day ruled last evening. There were wind gusts 15-20 mph after the rain that lasted for the rest of the game and it was a cold wind. We had planned to go to the game but the weather forecast was a definite rain chance so we went to Diamond Jim's Restaurant in Livingston for a good steak and listened to the game on the way back.

A great 2 out bottom of the 9th rally by Bama. M White singles, B Moore singles, White advances to third. W Wass hits a walk off single.

Bama gave up 3 runs in the 1st and did not allow another run over 8 innings.

We need to win the game and series tomorrow.

St Louis got 3 hits and all 3 runs in the first inning. We shut them down after that. We left 10 men on base. That is a problem. We came through with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th. That is a confidence builder.

St Louis is a good team. They return 16 players from last year that won the Atlantic 10 Conference and advanced to NCAA play. They are not ranked but they did receive votes.

There was a big crowd at the game yesterday and I look for an even bigger one today, temp will be in the sixties. I've got to get some things done so maybe Mrs. J and I can take in the game today.

Thanks Chech. It's that time of year to trim the bushes and burn and Mrs. J has lots of bushes. I offered to pull up all the bushes with the tractor but that didn't go over very well with her. :dunno:
