Post by: pmull on January 29, 2014, 08:02:03 AM
Quote
After consulting with the Southeastern Conference, it has been determined that the men's basketball game between Auburn and Alabama has been postponed until Thursday due to wintery weather across the state of Alabama. The safety of the participating teams, staff and fans was considered in postponing the game.

Tip time has been set for approximately 25 minutes following the conclusion of the Texas A&M at Auburn women's game, which has been moved to a 5 p.m. tip off.

Auburn postponed their azz whoopin until Thursday. The game will start at approximately 7:30 after the Women's game.

Our RPI is currently 84 according to ESPN with a SOS of 2.

We played pretty good basketball last week. We played well in our loss to Florida. Florida is # 3 in the polls. We beat LSU. LSU beat Kentucky 87-82 last night and the final score is closer than the game. LSU lead by 10-12 most of the 2nd half.

The Thursday game gives us a short turn around on a very important game against Tennessee at home on Saturday night.

Does the SOS mean that we have the 2nd toughest schedule?  If not, please explain...

SOS = Strength of Schedule

At this point only Kansas has a more difficult schedule than us.

Another example of how bad Bama is not. Bama hung on to beat LSU and has played a horrendous schedule but they haven't quit. They need these next two games in a bad way, it gets them over the .500 mark and they would be 5-3 in conference play which has them going in the right direction. Just maybe they can get a little win streak going.

Any truth to the rumor that the postponement actually comes as a result of Barbee trying desperately to find a basketball team?  :dunno:

I heard the same rumor but Barbee got stuck in the snow & ice on I-65 and he wasn't able to use the Hoover basketball team.
