I saw this on the ESPN tape with Breaking News during the UK/UNC BB game, just now.

I guess this means Texas will be signing Mike Tomlin, Jim Harbaugh, or John Harbaugh. I guess now it depends on who Texas makes the lucky guy and "selects" them and lets them be the Longhorn coach.

After weeks of uncertainty, it appears Mack Brown's time at Texas is at an end.

Brown, who is 158-47 at Texas, will step down after coaching the Longhorns against Oregon in the Alamo Bowl on Dec. 30, the university said in a statement Saturday.

Should put a halt to the "Shaggy Bevo" meltdowns.

I can't wait for all the speculation about what coach they are going to give the privilege of coaching Texas.

If they don't get who they want, the meltdown will be epic.

Here's a suggested list of those they can definitely get as the next HC.

Chiznik
Muschamp
Shula
Bobby Bowden
Terry Bowden
Larry Coker
Franchione
Bobby Williams (special teams coach at Alabama)
Tuberville

My vote is for Muschamp.  He is the coach-in-waiting, right?   :dunno:

They're lucky to get in a pre-New Years Bowl game, so he can coach one last game, retire and they don't owe him all that money.

It would be interesting to see the list of folks who say "no" to this job, but I doubt we'll see the whole list.  UTX will try to keep it quiet.  With all the craziness between the Regents, Univ Pres and the AD, next coach should insist on no buyout in his contract.

You know Vegas is still listing Saban as a possibility.

New Orleans Saints: CBS Sports reporter Jason La Canfora says Sean Payton is on Texas' wish list.

Philadelphia Eagles: ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports Texas is interested in Chip Kelly, but Mort cited a team spokesman who said Kelly "laughed it off" when told about it. Remember though, Kelly has show-cause.

San Francisco 49ers: According to Mike Silver of NFL.com, John Harbaugh has told the 49ers he has no desire to leave for Texas or any other job.

Texas: The Austin American-Statesman reports Mack Brown will receive an annual salary of $500,000 as an adviser to president Bill Powers.

Stanford: According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, David Shaw plans to stay at Stanford.

Well I saw this on CRS a few days back, SO we have some folks on here that called this correctly. My compliments to you for knowing more than Mack Brown did about his football life. RTR!

Now guys, you're just pointing out the main idiots. There are still good guys like Herbstreit, Brad Nessler, Finebaum, Gary Daniels, Musberger, Sean McDonough, Dave Neal, Gus Johnson, and many more effective announcers/analysts. Kanel & Clay Travis are total homers and will soon lose all their credibility.

There should be a thread called:  The Official Texas HC Turndown List.  It's going to be fun to watch.

I wish I had a rich uncle! I have been listening to him since the 1970's when he was with CBS. I have found him informative and fair, except with Northwestern, which he attended and his son played football for.
