Title: NFL Mock Draft 2014
Post by: Marshal Dillon on December 10, 2013, 10:18:01 AM
This analysis is 2 days old. Only 12 SEC players in the first round. I just don't see Clowney as the first pick in the draft. He seems soft & moody to me, a future problem child. I love one evaluation:

Quote
10. Pittsburgh Steelers—OT Cyrus Kouandjio, Alabama

It's time, again, to re-work the offensive line in Pittsburgh. The smart move for general manager Kevin Colbert would be to bite the bullet early in the 2014 draft and land a blue-chip left-tackle prospect.

Cyrus Kouandjio has had his rough spots this season, but he's a rare talent when it comes to strength, athleticism and even upside. He's better than D.J. Fluker was at Alabama, and he's dominating in San Diego.

NFL teams always seem to think they'll be able to straighten out the high-talent, low-character/motivation player.  It rarely seems to work out.  If Clowney has failed to perform with millions on the line this year, what will he do once he has the millions?

Cyrus K doesn't seem to have character/motivation problems but he hasn't played like a top ten pick this year either.  He has all the physical tools though at one of the most important NFL positions though, so there's a good chance he'll go top ten.

Agree 100% about Clowney.   He had the opportunity this year to showcase his talent, but didn't.

Cyrus K has only been playing football since H.S., so although he is still a bit rough, I think NFL teams will look at his potential.

IMO, Clowney is a train wreck waiting to happen.  When he gets his contract signed and has all those millions of $$ I suspect he will faulter worse than Rolo without the potential of someone (like Saban) to rescue him.

It's Bleacher Report!

Clowney has faultered this year, but who gets picked instead?  Houston needs a key on their D-line, and they can pick up a QB in round 2 (perhaps AJ?).

I keep hearing that if he decides to go in the draft, Manziel may be picked up by Houston, who definitely needs a QB and JM would certainly put butts in the seats.

Well, if we hear that Houston is trading the 1st pick, then we'll know you're right!
