Dan Mullen: Bulldogs expected to win, but Alabama made more plays
(http://media.gulflive.com/mississippi-press-sports/photo/danmullenvashajpg-a91993c86d68c65f.jpg)"I think our kids played hard, but (Alabama) made more plays in every single phase of the game," Mullen says after 20-7 loss.

Mullen:
"Maybe there is not a person sitting here and maybe there wasn't a person sitting out in the stands who did, (but) I can guarantee you in that locker room there is not one person who didn't expect to win the game tonight," Mullen said. "We expected to stop them and we expected to score, but we didn't do that. We didn't stop them enough and we didn't score enough."

That about sums it up.  MSU was ready to play; Bama not so much!

It was an ugly win but it was a win. Maybe this game will serve notice to the players that playing like this won't get them another Iron Bowl trophy or a piece of crystal. I was glad to see the game end last night.

The game last night is the very reason I don't go to Starkville anymore to watch a game. First, Bama never seems to play well there and second, those stupid cow bells. Did you see the Bama player on the stationary bike wearing ear plugs, I hate that place. >:(

I hate Starkville too.
It's the only pacle where I've seen home-town fans verbally abuse visitors, just because they came to support the team.  We had cups of pee thrown on us from upper-deck fans, and bottles were thrown from a walkway behind us (while cops ignored it).  Then there are the idiotic cowbells.  WTH?  Cowbells?  Is there anything more redneck than that?  I hope they all go deaf!

boy ain't that the truth !
and sometimes even when they come to BDS weird stuff happens
like AJ getting a spanking from CNS

I have a great place in mind to put those dang cowbells
but I believe it carries a  10 year prison sentence if convicted

I agree: put the bells right there with the golden horseshoe!

The earplugs are needed along the sidelines, because there is a group of idiotic fans who line the fence right behind the visitor bench to irritate the players.  That's where they get their jollies!  Here's a pic of it.

they also will break in vehicles and steal stuff
but sometimes it doesn't work out to well for them

like last night ...
some Alabama fans went over there and were lucky enough to
see the guy in the act
they hemmed the would be thief up who of course denied the theft

only problem was that the thief had one of the guys sunglasses around his
neck on some croggies ...

lets see ... how did they say it ... ?

"we beat the shirt off his thieving azz" and took our stuff back  :lol2:

Typical Miss State game. We do not play well and they give us their best shot. Even though it is always a difficult game we always seem to get out of there with a win.

True.
And State always has a sloppy game too.  Surprisingly, this time we were sloppier!

  I'm with you on that one.

I think everyone just wanted the game to be over, including the players.

I've been to one Miss St game. The people directly behind us had cow bells and used them vigorously during their opening drive that led to a field goal. We never heard then again after that. Oh, BTW, Bama won 48-3.  :lol2:

I also went to one Mississippi State game, years ago, with my brother.  He bought one of the Mississippi State cowbells and would ring it vigorously every time Bama made a play, every time Mississippi State offense was on the field, etc.  I went back later and watched that game on DVR, and sure enough you can hear that lone cow bell.   :lol2:

I read an article recently that suggested all SEC schools use cow bells when they host Miss State. Their reasoning was not only to irritate Miss State but to also get the SEC to enforce the ban on cow bells and artificial noise makers. It is not a bad idea IMO.

I kind of hate to say this and you all may disagree but, we did a lot better job on defense after the 2nd. string QB hurt his arm. He was really lighting up our DB's.  After he was sidelined and the 3rd string guy came in, there was an obvious drop off.

Had that QB change not happened, we might be having a very different conversation this morning.

Anybody remember when the SEC banned the cowbells?

Yep.  Coach Bryant either started the process or (at least) supported it.

Those darn things are more annoying than those zuza things at the soccer games.

I wish Slive would revisit the cowbell issue because it is totally unfair to permit one school to use the noisemakers and not the others. I'm not really sure how the ruling reads but I don't ever see  any other school in the SEC using anything.
