The team they beat was two time defending National Champion Alabama. That was in 1980. They beat us 6-3 in Jackson, MS. We played terrible that day. Kinda spooky about the two time champion similarity.

I also remember Gene Stallings running Bob Bockrath out of the locker room after a loss over there. It's always a very physical game when these two play so Bama had better be ready.

Indeed, we'd won the NC in 1978 and 1979, trying for a 3-peat! BUT, that's where the similarities end! If I recall correctly we were down 21-3 become we made our come back.
MSU is not the best team on our schedule but they are one of the most physical. I have seen them on TV several times this year and they play good defense but struggle to score. I think they are better with Prescott as QB. He is a big guy who likes to run. He was hurt last week so I don't know how healthy he is.
