Title: Alabama Has Top 5 Basketball Recruiting Class Post by: pmull on May 24, 2011, 04:28:24 PM Rivals has the 2011 incoming basketball recruiting class as the fifth best in the country. CAG is getting the job done. Basketball is going to be fun next year.

I hope he shows up in shape and quickly adjusts to our system, both on and off the court.
CAG is well ahead of the timetable I assigned to him when he was hired. I am not surprised with these outstanding improvements, just that they surfaced so soon. RTR 8) Future is so bright we have to wear shades. Title: Re: Alabama Has Top 5 Basketball Recruiting Class Post by: pmull on May 24, 2011, 04:56:45 PM 8)

Title: Re: Alabama Has Top 5 Basketball Recruiting Class Post by: Marshal Dillon on May 24, 2011, 07:33:34 PM The real test will be to keep recruiting high-quality players. We filled a lot of needs with this class and seem set at the guard position, the most important position on the floor. I would love to have one more big man for the inside, though.

Title: Re: Alabama Has Top 5 Basketball Recruiting Class Post by: Jamos on May 25, 2011, 05:42:29 PM I think the real test is to get the high profile players but keep them for 3 yrs, the one and done player won't do much for Bama.

I think he will be able to keep most of his recruits for at least 3 years. I've read where Coach Donovan of Florida has stopped trying to recruit certain players because he doesnt want the one and done problems. I think you can do more with a team of 4 stars for 3 or 4 years, instead of the super stud elite 5 star guy who just wants to play in the NBA after one year. I think more teams will use the same approach as Donovan. The players are changing every year with the Kentuckys, North Carolinas, etc. Title: Re: Alabama Has Top 5 Basketball Recruiting Class Post by: Marshal Dillon on May 25, 2011, 08:34:42 PM Agree. Players should be required to stay at least two years. Even Barkley says that. I think all the big programs are going to start reevaluating thir recruiting targets because everyone is tired of these one year wonders.

I would think even the NBA would want to get on board with that. Too many of the younger kids that go in after year 1 turn out to be busts and the NBA teams have to feel that is no bargain. |
