I think I know now why CNS refuses to discuss the reason for suspensions. When the player showed up late at a team meeting because he couldn't get his earrings out, I can only imagine what the media would do with that reasoning. I just wonder who that player was and how long was he in the dog house.

I think Bama/ Saban holds players to more of a higher standard than any other program.  I think he suspends more players than others.  That being said I also think players coming in know what to expect from Saban and his staff.

Certainly the consistency in expectations helps.  But many of these players are knuckleheads who may be disciplined at practice, but (after a few beers or ...) metamorphose into idiots at night.  They've been allowed free run of the world for years, and now he must deal with them.  NOBODY can keep that under control 100% of the time.

I agree. I thought 60 Minutes showed a great example of how CNS coaches with the example of him constantly yelling at Eddie Jackson in practice. It was a great example of a "before and after" player when he comes to Bama. CNS does have a big doghouse for the players and this year there have been a lot of players in it.

All ready set to record Wednesday night Showtime Sports.

You bet, they'll be showing the new training facility. This has to be a great thing for Bama recruiting because I'm sure there are a lot of high school recruits that will be watching as well. I wonder how much this show will affect their football camps next summer.

I think they said Saban gave them access for eight months.  I'm surprised recruiting wasn't shown, but I'm sure Coach could ban their cameras when he wanted to.
Note that 60 Minutes Sports on Wednesday will look at why we have the strongest players.

It would violate NCAA rules if a recruit's name were mentioned.

If you want to play at Bama you have to be a competitor.

I have never trusted any of the media, especially 60 Minutes after a torch job they did many years ago on the South Texas Nuclear Project. They came in cameras and all, taped several hours of interviews with a friend of mine who was the Director of Quality for a company I shall not name at this time.  As a precaution, the company also taped the same interviews, etc. that 60 Min did.

When the show ran on TV, it was NOTHING like they had said it would be..comments were taken out of context, different aNSwers were given than originally, a total lie!

It was so bad that the company filed suit..got nowhere..60 Min has deep pockets.

The sad part of this was that my friend was so devastated by the act of evil by 60 Minutes that he took his life.

On top of all that, Mike Wallace was the biggest teller of untruths on the program, and Andy was a flaming liberal..as most of them were and still are.

I put them in the same category as the famous JJ and Rev Al..if they don't have controversy, they will stir some up, 'cause if they don't have controversy, they don't have a job.

I hope CNS covered his backside with these DEVILS.

Quote
The topic of Saban's comfort level with Alabama and his living situation in Tuscaloosa reinforced what he's repeatedly said when the topic is broached.

"There's not The University of Mars, which is a better place," he said. "There's not that. So now it's easy to be comfortable here."

Saban's wife, Terry, agreed.

"I think that's true," she said. "I've heard the assistant coaches who have been with him for years that he's mellowing a little bit."

Actually, there is a University of Mars:

I hope someone will be able to provide a link to Wednesday's episode.  I don't have Showtime so won't be able to watch that one.  I was really impressed with last night's 60 Minutes segment with Coach Saban too.

Wow, it doesn't get any better than this. I don't care who your are or what you are doing in life, there is so much to be learned from what he says. Thanks for sharing and I hope our members have a way of sharing this with someone that they really care about. #+
