Title: ESPN Taking Shots at "The Vest"
Post by: Marshal Dillon on May 19, 2011, 09:41:46 PM
The end is near.

The issue features “sin and shame on and off the field” and, yes, Auburn’s Cam Newton and Tennessee’s Bruce Pearl are mentioned on the cover.  But in a year of scandals, it’s “The Vest” that gets the front-and-center treatment.

I wonder if his contract is structured in such a way that he comes out ahead money wise if he is fired, even with cause, instead of resigning?  That could explain a lot.

His contract states if he submits false forms to the NCAA he can be fired. He's already admitted to that. OSU could have fired him for case and not paid him a cent. Now, they may not be able to do that due to his 5 game suspension.

So if they fire him he might not get anything (assuming they didn't miss their chance).  But I wonder if he has to pay them back some money if he resigns?  That could explain why he is waiting around for the hammer.

I don't see on what grounds they could ask for a refund. It's obvious OSU is scrambling around like crazy trying to get this thing off the front burner, but its not working. I think they thought everyone would be congratulating them for making Tressel pay his own legal bills, but that didn't happen. They are in such very deep sheet, it ain't even funny. The problem is the OSU president, AD, and Tressel are all joined at the hip. If Tressel goes down, they go with him, so they have to stand by him. It's too late to look like you're in charge now.

Gomer (USMC) was very wise.

When the Tressel thing broke I made some smart alec comment about how this should shut up the "Oversigning.com" crowd. But no. They just don't get it.

I finally came up with a domain name.  I just registered OVERCHEATING.COM  :D

Now what to do with it.  I think I will make a home page with the ESPN Cover with a link to click on that takes you to a topic here in the forum.  It should be fun.
