Title: Is Tennessee setting a trap for Bama?
Post by: Jamos on October 21, 2013, 08:25:12 PM
After last weekend, whose the next high ranked team to fall? Bama will face a team Saturday they will come into Bryant Denny with upset on their minds. I remember just a few years ago that Mount Cody saved Bama from a certain defeat by blocking a field goal attempt on the last play of the game. I can't remember but it seems Bama was a big favorite that day, not sure.

Tennessee has improved their play the past two games, losing to Georgia in a game two weeks ago that they should have won and then beating South Carolina this past Saturday. I can promise you that they are licking their chops for Bama this Saturday.

Per the odds makers, Bama is a 27 point favorite this weekend  so do you think this is posted in their locker room? It doesn't take a whole lot to get an underdog team into a frenzy that only fuels their fire come gametime and you can believe that Tennessee is coming in here to play like thay have nothing to lose and a whole lot to gain. This is Tennessee versus Bama and they've come out on the short end of the stick for quite some time now.

From what I've been hearing this week, many of the Bama players don't understand this rivalry the way all of us know it and this is what concerns me. This isn't just another conference game, this is Tennessee and you better be ready. ;)

If I remember that year Bama had played 8 or 9 straight games and each team they played had had an open date before their game with Bama.  UT did make it a close game.  I think Bama is more rested and moving toward a goal.  I am not sure about the huge point spread, but it think Bama wins.

The best thing about it is the fact that they almost beat UGA in OT and then they did beat USC.  Our boys will take them seriously and will be ready to play too.

We were heavy favorites in the '09 game, so that goes to show you that anything can happen. Bama needs to keep building the momentum they've been working up over the last few games. UT has improved and I would rather be impaled by a rusty pitchfork than lose to Tennessee. 2 weeks ago, everyone thought that the only tough game left on our schedule was LSU. Now, it looks like an improved UT team and Auburn could give us a run for our money.

Be ready boys!!!

BINGO!!! I still think we handle them something like 35-7, 35-10, etc.

I was listening to Chris Stewart's show this morning and he had an ex Bama QB on that had interviewed some of the players after the game Saturday night. He said he asked some of them if they knew what "Hate Tennessee" was and they responded that not really, they didn't know too much about the past rivalry with Tennessee like the players in the past did. That kind of got my attention. Where is Goosetree when we need him?

Has LSU replaced UT in theses youngsters eyes as well as mine as being a bigger rivalry?

I think this will be the closest game we've had since aTm, and will be closer than the point spread.  But I think we can pull away in the second half unless we really screw up on defense.

I'm imagining a solid 20-30 point win.  Anything is possible, but this season is nothing like 2009.  That team didn't have the depth that this team has.  That team was playing its 8th consecutive game.  That team was struggling, this team seems to be getting better every week.  That team was not resting the starters because they were struggling, this team has had opportunities to rest the starters.

I expect it to stay close in the first half, but see Bama wear them down in the second.

I'm be more worried that the Tennessee players might break into apartments, cars, and lockers while in Tuscaloosa than commit an upset.   :dunno:

If we can't beat Tennessee, then nothing else matters.  I'm going to enjoy watching it; no need to worry unless you've hitched your wagon to a shutout.

My biggest worry going into this game is complacency.  This season Bama has beaten all opponents by a combined score of 285-68.  Throw out the aTm game and it is an obsene 239-26.  Bama has won by an average of almost 41 - 10. Throw out the aTm game and the closest any team came to upsetting Bama was Colorado State and Ole Miss, both losing by 25 points each.  I am just afraid that our players will come in over-confident at some point and have their butt pads shown to them.

Hopefully Coach Saban and Co. can/will keep them well grounded and not take anything or anyone for granted and they will play their best regardless of who they are or what their record may be...

This! 39-10
But, I do wonder how much we will miss VS

What will be annoying is that Oregon ran the score up on TN, 59-14, and will be all over it if Bama doesn't do the same.

But I don't think this game will be close.  TN is coming off a big win for their program, and I don't see them getting up for a second big game, especially after Bama puts them in their place in the first 15 minutes.

Butch Jones inheritated a mess at UT. After a slow start to the season they are improving each week. They will be riding high after their big win last week. UT is a dangerous team that if we do not play well could give us some trouble.

Their win last week got our attention. There should be no looking ahead to LSU since we have a bye next week. I expect us to play well and UT will struggle on the road. UT will fight hard but I think we are too big, fast and talanted for them at this point in their rebuilding process.

I don't know if we cover the spread but I look for a win with us dominating late in the game.

Exactly right. Good improvement after each game. That's called coaching.

I have spoken to several neighbors around Heflin, that Coach Butch Jones was going to do a lot better than most think. I was told, well he followed other coaches who had good recruits, well maybe so, but it takes good coaching to continue to win. Gene what's his name had Tommy Tuberville recruits and won a national title. Aft this what Happen? JMHO. RTR!

rule #1
:one thing we've learned about Bama:
its best if opposing players don't talk smack during game week.
it makes CJ Mosley and company angry & goose eggs happen..

I've had the pleasure of being around Bill Dance some and he is quite the guy, I doubt that he has ever met a stranger. All of the comedy things that we see on tv aren't just some put on for tv, he is like that in real life. The world needs more people like Bill Dance.

He offered Johnny Stallings a Tennessee cap at our bass tournament once and Johnny told him he didn't want it, instead Johnny gave Bill an Alabama cap and he did put it on and wear it. Great guy.

I once handed my youngest brother my truck keys after he assured me he could back up the trailer and I'd drive the boat on.  I was pretty dubious -- his on-the-water skills were limited -- but he said he could do it so I took him at his word.  As I was slowing coasting the boat up to the dock, he stepped off the front of the boat and plopped straight into the water.   :lol2:  I still don't know why he didn't wait till we were closer.
