Title: Daily Devotional 5/19/11
Post by: ricky023 on May 19, 2011, 09:52:05 AM
"James 4:4 know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God."

Spiritual adultery was mentioned often in the Old Testament. It is no more right for a Christian to love both God and the world, than for a man to have two wives. Unfaithfulness would repulse the offended party in either case. A common characteristic of backsliding is the voluntary blindness toward the seriousness of sin. Enmity with God is something the Christian was delivered from (Rom 5:10), and therefore, his “affair” with the world should cause shame and remorse.
Jeremiah 3:20 says Surely as a wife treacherously departeth from her husband, so have ye dealt treacherously with me, this is to the Chrisitans of today, how backsliding and making the world of more importance than our Lord.
Yes it is done everyday by all in some way, even the ones who think they have all knowledge they still push the Lord aside long enough to get themselves honored.
Today I ask you to think about what you say to your fellow brothers/sisters. If someone is of the world what they say doesn't matter, but Chrisitains should walk Christ-like. God Bless!
