Title: Rankings after all the upsets?
Post by: bama57 on October 20, 2013, 09:13:12 AM
How high will Missouri go? Will aubarn crack the top 15? How does LSWho lose to a team we shut out?  And where does all this leave Baylor? Does Florida state move to 2?

1. Top 10 for sure. Maybe 7 or 8.
2. Yes.
3. Inconsistent play and they are just not as good as we thought.
4. Baylor is getting a lot of national attention. They don't play defense in that conference but their offense is impressive.
5. I think FSU moves ahead of Oregon to #2.

That's my thoughts. Good questions. Lots of surprises this week. The balance in the SEC 2-12 is closer than I thought.

I think your top 3 is accurate, the media loves Oregon. Maybe the poll looks something like this:

1.  Alabama
2.  Oregon
3.  Florida State
4.  Ohio State
5.  Baylor
6.  Missouri
7.  Miami
8.  Stanford
9.  Texas Tech  (yeah, I know but they are undefeated)
10.Clemson (may drop to as low as #13)
11. LSU
12. Fresno State

 ???

I think FSU's victory over Clemson was one of the most impressive wins of the season, and they should move up to No. 2.   But with the media love of Oregon, ya'll are probably right, they'll be No. 3.  With Ohio State at #4, those are probably the only teams right now looking for a BCSCG berth.

FSU confuses me...how can BC score 34 but thump Clemson??? :dunno:

Look for NC ST to beat them. You heard it here first... 8)

Most of this will shake itself out. Texas T. plays Baylor, Oregon still has to play Oregon State & UCLA, FSU plays Miami, Baylor plays Texas, Ohio State plays Michigan, Miami plays Va. Tech, Va. T or Miami could play FSU in the ACC title game, Oklahoma plays Baylor, and so on. There are plenty of games left to separate the pretenders from the contenders.

Yesterday was a bad day for us. Everyone we have already beat went down, with the exception of VT. Whether we are stacking up against other 1 loss teams or other undefeated teams, this is bad for us. Auburn's meteoric rise will be helpful if we beat them, Vols are still off the radar, and LSU took a bad loss. Not a good day for us.

If both Bama and Mizzou win out then SECCG would match two undefeated teams.  How cool would that be?  Would also do a world of good for our schedule strength.

If OM or UT can get ranked by season's end, we'll have 5 ranked teams on our schedule.

Pretty funny, since Auburn only has one loss to LSU versus Aggies 2

You know how much they respect the Big Ten? Michigan is 6-1 @ #24 and Wisconsin is 6-1 @ # 25 in the country. Even Louisville with one loss is ranked higher.
