Title: Favorite Scripture, Versus, Hymns, Etc...
Post by: rueben on May 16, 2011, 09:14:03 PM
 Post one, post many, what scriptures (etc) do you really like? ( Copy and Paste is fine,  I'll do it!)

Here is one of my favorite, To me it says, " God says it's okay to be brave to not be a coward, to stand up in the face of fear, to be humble beofre him, but to face your adversities with gallant strength!
Job 39, 19-25.

19“Do you give the horse his might?
         Do you clothe his neck with a mane?

20“Do you make him leap like the locust?
         His majestic snorting is terrible.

21“He paws in the valley, and rejoices in his strength;
         He goes out to meet the weapons.

22“He laughs at fear and is not dismayed;
         And he does not turn back from the sword.

23“The quiver rattles against him,
         The flashing spear and javelin.

24“With shaking and rage he races over the ground,
         And he does not stand still at the voice of the trumpet.

25“As often as the trumpet sounds he says, ‘Aha!’
         And he scents the battle from afar,
         And the thunder of the captains and the war cry.

I think this next one describes me, all too well!!!

1 Timothy 1: 13-16

13 Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief. 14 The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.

 15 Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. 16 But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life.

Mine is as you know:
John 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

The first sermon I ever preached was on this scripture. God Bless!

You are right XBAMA, if Gen. 1:1 had never been spoken the rest would never have devopled. Good job in my opinion. God Bless!

thanks for looking over my lame attempt at humor ...

it's like my wife's 2 grandmothers and 2 grandfathers
with out them her dad wouldn't be here , her mom wouldn't be either

so I hold a special place in my heart  for them (just like for 1:1 ) because
they are responsible for my happiness and the angel they sent me .
 I know they didn't plan it that way but I believe I  know who did

Thanx Corch. I think if I ever got up the nerve to do Karaoke, it would be either this song, or his cover of the song HURT. Very interesting story behind Johnny covering this song, but I'll save it for another thread.

If we are talking country Gospel, it doesn't get any better than Hank Williams "I Saw The Light" .
