Title: Daily Devotional 5/16/11 Post by: ricky023 on May 16, 2011, 10:15:16 AM "2Peter 2:20 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning."
When you read this verse please note the first of the scripture, "escaped the pollutions of the world" that to me means you accepted Jesus Christ as Saviour and was forgiven of sins. This is the most pleasing and wonderful time of your life then! We read further and it shows that a man let's himself easily drift back into the worldly ways. The jokes, stuff on your computer, etc. The main part of the scripture then comes into play, which is "the latter end is worse than the beginning." Think about how bad you was in the world originally and then this time you are even worse. This means your heart is really filled with filth from the world. I ask you today are you letting this scripture apply to you? God Bless! Title: Re: Daily Devotional 5/16/11 Post by: SUPERCOACH on May 16, 2011, 10:36:27 AM Amen.
Title: Re: Daily Devotional 5/16/11 Post by: rueben on May 16, 2011, 06:39:50 PM Ricky, I read that similar to what you do ( the second part). I read it as "you are worse off now than before, because you have accepted Christ, (as opposed to before) yet still fall into the evil ways of the world.
Maybe like a drug abuser. First time is bad. Then he goes through recovery. If he ever falls off the wagon, it is usually much worse than the original addiction. Kinda like different levels of punishment for my son. If he did something that ( I feel) he really did not know any better, than to do, his punishment is not near as severe as it is when he does something that he clearly knows is wrong. Also like I tell my firefighters, " First one's on me, second one is on you." BTW thank you for the daily devotionals. I read them nearly everyday. I appreciate everyone you post on here, even if I don't follow up on each one with a "Thank you." They are all greatly appreciated!!! #+ Title: Re: Daily Devotional 5/16/11 Post by: ricky023 on May 16, 2011, 07:32:30 PM Thanks reuben. God Bless for that uplifting post. I do agree with your understanding. It does simply become worse when they have held the plow and fall away. God Bless the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus the Christ.
