And it's not like we were playing Wake Forest Saturday, either. I think he will be eating those words before the season is over.
Title: Re: On the Mark Column, about Bama Post by: Catch Prothro on September 16, 2013, 12:13:08 PM I don't see Bama falling down the polls anytime soon. That was an impressive win on Saturday against a very good team -- a team ranked 6 for good reason.
The only two games on the schedule even causing pause are Ole Miss, which hasn't quite shown itself to be in Bama's league, and LSU, which should be a challenge. (LSU still has to play @ Georgia, Florida, @ Ole Miss, @ Alabama, and then the Aggies.) Ole Miss has an open date before travelling to play at Bama. Bama doesn't play anyone with an offense even approaching the Aggies until possibly the SECCG and BCSCG. And as he notes, Bama has a "will to win that, even after three BCS championships in four seasons, is stronger than week-old garbage." Bama's defense gave up big yards and scores against Georgia last year, but that didn't stop them from winning it all. Bama is No. 1 because it has great athletes at every position, can win with offense, defense, and special teams, and has a coaching staff second to none. Football is a team sport, and Bama has the best team.
