Title: Time to apologize to the O-line, Jalston Fowler, and The Drake.
Post by: Chechem on September 15, 2013, 05:46:19 AM
People were doubting Jalston Fowler after his performance against VT.  He proved his worth against the Aggies: 4 carries for 37 yards (ave 9.3 ypc); didn't miss a block; caught key TD pass.

The O-line was KEY TO THE GAME.  Almost everyone said so.  They had some mistakes, but controlled the game, didn't give up sacks, and plowed the A&M defense when it was needed most.  The O-line got its own writeup: http://www.crimsonredsports.com/index.php?topic=20324.0

THE DRAKE.  Out of the doghouse, into the endzone.  Lots of big names among the RBs this year, but who expected THE DRAKE to emerge so soon??

Right on all 3 counts. Now we've gone from being concerned about our offense, to being concerned about the defense.  :lol2:

I'm just glad we don't have to play A&M anymore this year.(I hope  )

I had no fears about the O-line nor Fowler but after seeing Drake get in the CNS doghouse so early in the season. My doubts about Drake wasn't about his playing abilities but the reasons for him being in the doghouse.

Granted that A&M's defense isn't going to win any awards, but yesterday's O-line performance was reminiscent of last year's SEC Championship when Georgia knew we were running up the gut play after play and couldn't stop it.  Great performance by the entire offense this week.

Nope, way too early to "apologize." Fowler stunk against VT and so did the O-line, period. The A&M defense is a joke so let's wait and see how they perform against the likes of LSU, Ole Miss, and others. I'm happy we were able to push A&M around, but there is still a lot of work to do. We have to see a lot more before we can really judge the team's performance.

Yes.  There is a reason why CNS did not remove Yeldon after the personal foul and bench him for the remainder of the game and play Fowler in his place.

Yeldon.
Quick is the fall.  He almost became the goat for this game.

Coach Bryant said, "Act like you have been there before."

Two 1 yard line fumbles for a turnover, against the same team, in consecutive meetings is inexplicable.

That was the kharma of the universe humbling him.  I hope it sticks.

His one handed carrying style has always made me nervous.  If I were a coach, I would have one defender whose only job is to punch the football every time Yeldon is carrying it.

Me, too! I have always liked him and never knew why he was in the Saban dog house. He's not big, but he seems to know how to hit the hole and make good cuts.

He was in the dog house for being late to team meetings a couple of times.

I agree it is to early to apologize. Show me consistency.

BINGO!! The Ole Miss game will be a major test for the defense, especially the DB's. I think we need to pound the ball and go right at them. Just my humble opinion.
