Post by: pmull on August 04, 2013, 07:46:37 AM
What out for the Wi-Fi symbol on your credit card. It is a new and faster way for legitimate company's to scan your credit but your information can be easily stolen. Check out this video.

So I'm going to have to put  :tinfoil: on my RFID credit cards?  :dunno:

Seriously, that is very scary.

I've known about this for awhile.  It is by far one of the stupidest ideas I've seen by the financial industry.  Is it really that inconvenient to swipe your card?

Mrs. Preacher had already heard this she said. This so sad but she is trying to be very careful where she uses her debit card. Thanks for the info. RTR!

Google was set to try to hoard in on the financial market with the Google Wallet based on Near Field Communication (NFC) capability in your cell phones.  Many phones come equipped with the hardware for this now, but I don't know of a lot of applications currently using it.

The idea was to be able to "swipe" your smartphone near a reader and eliminate your debit card.  It, of course, comes with some inherent security risks as well.
