It also gives newcomers Key, Hale and Taylor a chance to play with the team prior to the season starting. This is extra playing time and coaching that is allowed by the NCAA.
Quote University of Alabama men's basketball coach Anthony Grant said Monday that UA would play a series of games in Europe this August in preparation for the 2013-14 season. Grant said the Crimson Tide would play games in France, Belgium and the Netherlands on a trip that would last from August 8 until August 19. Overseas trips are permissible under NCAA rules and are relatively common. UA is expected to have nine players available for the trip. You get to make these type trips under NCAA rules every 4 years. Our last trip was under Gottfried in 2007. I think it will be a huge benefit for our team.
