Title: Bama softball's Kayla Braud hitting her way into record books, career nears end Post by: Jamos on May 23, 2013, 06:39:27 AM Wow, how time flys by. It seems only a very short time ago that Kayla arrived in Tuscaloosa with all of her playing skills and bringing a 103 game hitting streak from her high school days. I can't remember how long this hitting streak continued after she got to Bama, but I think it was 20 or 30 something more games before it finally ended. Fast pitch softball is a tough sport and it's very hard to imagine a hitting streak that lasted that long.
Kayla will be missed after she leaves because of her character. She is very dedicated to the program and has so much energy that she shares either by a neck hug when you might see her off the field or when she is trying to start a winning rally by one of her trademark bunts. But to top off all of her success on the softball field, she also has an award winning GPA in the classroom. Bama will have a huge challenge this weekend as they travel to play Tennessee in a Super Regional and if Kayla can continue her hot streak with the bat, Bama has a good chance of beating the Vols. It won't be easy for the team, but you can bet that she will be giving it all she has to get the team to Oklahoma City for another shot at a national championship. http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2013/05/kayla_braud_alabama_softball.html#incart_river Title: Re: Bama softball's Kayla Braud hitting her way into record books, career nears end Post by: pmull on May 23, 2013, 08:20:09 AM Kayla has been a good player for us. A four year starter and one of the best to ever put on the Alabama uniform. She will be missed.
Jackey Branham, Courtney Conley, Kemia Davis and Lauren Sewell are also seniors. I don't want to take anything away from these players because they all have their role on the team. However, Kayla Braud is the only full time starter we are losing. We think this is a down year but we are in a Super Regional and still have a chance to make it to the WCWS. The future of Alabama Softball still looks very good. |
