Title: AD Bill Battle & Women's BB Program Post by: Marshal Dillon on May 15, 2013, 09:07:46 PM I hope Battle is right.
Quote Alabama athletics director Bill Battle has set a lofty goal for his new women's basketball coach, and it has nothing to do with wins and losses. Well, maybe it does. Speaking before Tuesday's Crimson Caravan event, Battle said he hopes the women's basketball program, led by the newly acquired Kristy Curry, outgrows Foster Auditorium, the historic building in which it's played since 2011.] :popcorn2: http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2013/05/alabama_ad_bill_battle_wants_w.html#incart_more_sports Title: Re: AD Bill Battle & Women's BB Program Post by: Jamos on May 16, 2013, 06:01:47 AM It will be interesting to see how Battle handles this, something that I think is well worth watching. He can earn himself a LOT of kudos if he can right this ship. ;)

But it might be pretty empty at first. It did not help recruiting playing in Coleman when reported attendance was 1,500 but actual was 600. The place was dead during games. That was the reason for the move to the much smaller Foster. I never liked that move. We need to raise tha bar for the Women's BB program, not lower it. We start winning and attendence will improve. I don't know how long Bill Battle will be AD at his age but this is his program now. His first big move as AD. I think he will provide Curry the support she needs to be successful. We are in a deep hole in a good league so it will not happen overnight. I wouldn't be surprised to see them play some at Coleman, especially when the men play a late game.

Yeah, we have a huge rebuilding job and it may be 3 or 4 years before we can expect something really good. I really do not understand why Mal Moore allowed this program to slip into such horrible shape. :dunno: |
