Title: Texas Basketball in Disarray
Post by: Marshal Dillon on May 14, 2013, 08:54:53 PM
Coach Rick Barnes might be on the hotseat if things keep declining.

Well Texas being in disarray is a shame on Barnes, cause I thought he had a great set up when he arrived on campus. You know Kentucky has won more than all of them, and here again the tough teams are in the SEC. RTR!

The Texas atlectic programs, as a whole, should be among the best each year. Most of their sports are in a decline including the two major ones in football and basketball..

Yep, if there was a program that I thought should be the bully of the NCAA, it would be Texas. Money is no problem for the school and they have the big state of Texas to recruit from.

Great point. They have the most money and outstanding facilities, but there is something wrong at the top. I think Mack Brown has lost his edge and now Barnes seems to be struggling.

This article has a little more detail. http://www.burntorangenation.com/2013/3/28/4158808/sheldon-mcclellans-transfer-texas-rick-barnes-hot-seat

Quote
There's room to debate when the troubles started, but after Tristan Thompson, Jordan Hamilton, and Corey Joseph all departed for the NBA following that 2010-11 season, Texas has been going the wrong direction. A tremendous individual season by J'Covan Brown helped Texas scrape out an NCAA Tournament bid as a No. 11 seed, but the frustrating loss to Cincinnati marked the fourth consecutive season that the Longhorns failed to advance to the second weekend of the Tournament.

This year, they didn't make it at all, and mercifully were put down by Houston in the opening round of the CBI, ending a season that was miserable from start to finish and netted the Longhorns their first losing record since Tom Penders' limped out of Austin in 1997. The loss to the Cougars came just hours after super-blue chip Julius Randle spurned his home state team to play for a Kentucky team where he may or may not be the best recruit in the class.

Things are worse than I thought in Bevoland.

I wish I could say I was distraught about this, but ....

Texas can always stand to be taken down a peg or two, no matter the sport.
