Title: Alabama softball receives No. 10 national seed for NCAA Tournament

The Alabama softball team will begin its pursuit of a second consecutive national championship where it typically does -- at home at Rhoads Stadium.

The Crimson Tide landed a No. 10 national seed in the 64-team tournament. That means it will host a four-team, opening-round regional this week, but will need some help if it hopes to do the same in the Super Regionals.

Alabama would need No. 7 Tennessee to lose its regional to host a Super Regional. The Crimson Tide hasn't traveled for a Super Regional since 2007, when it was swept at Washington.

The Crimson Tide will travel to Knoxville for the Super Regionals if both teams win their respective regionals. The Lady Vols took two of three from the Crimson Tide in Knoxville to open the SEC season.

Alabama's regional features Jacksonville State, Western Kentucky and South Carolina Upstate. The Crimson Tide did not play any of the three during the regular season.

I don't like the Super Regional pairing. Assuming Tenn wins their regional and we win ours we will face each other in Knoxville for the Super Regional. I hate when two schools from the same conference have to knock each other out. They could have made it where no SEC teams face each other until the WCWS. I looked quickly and I did not see any other conference having to play each other. Of course when you have 7 teams seated in the top 16 it is difficult.

I think being the #10 seed caused this to happen.

I may not get to see these games but I think these ladies are a lot better than they were at the start of the season. RTR!

They are not playing as well as they did earlier in the season, however the calibre of competition has certianly increased as they got into the Conference part of the schedule.

Thanks Leewillie. I sure hope wee have it together going into the playoffs. I really think from my reading everything on our ladies, they have what it takes to win another Championship. RTR!

I had a chat with one of the players today and asked her what has happened with the team and naturally she wasn't going to open up and start giving any excuses or alibis for what has happened in the 2nd half of the season. I questioned her about JTrain's downward spiral and she hinted that some of it could be fatigue. She said that she had played a lot of ball in the offseason and felt like her arm may be a little tired. She also hinted at maybe a little burnout as well.

I questioned her on her weight loss and how she had lost the weight and she said by being careful what she ate. This is what I figured and losing weight by a diet just drains your enery and stamina. I told her that JTrain reminds me of Leslie Jury last year in that she was very tired after 3-4 innings pitched and needed relief. JTrain has been the same way after the 5th inning, she's given up a lot of big hits and runs then.

This player is a senior and she stated that being seeded at #10 wasn't a good thing but could turn into something positive if the pitching can get better. She didn't like the idea of having to go to Knoxville for a Super Regional either.

Looks like you called it, J. I hope Jackie can rest that arm some. The competition they have in their regional may offer the chance for Jury and Sewell to carry a large part of the load and give Jackie some much needed rest.

It would be nice if Jury and Sewell could start these games and let Jackie pitch if needed. Maybe the bats will get hot to help that cause as well.

Not to get off the Tide track here, but I also saw where South Alabama will also be hosting a regional. Evidently my second favorite college team had a tremendous season.

They did and they do have a good team. They had come to Tuscaloosa the past seasons for some non-conference games but didn't make it this year.
