Title: Alabama Baseball Host Missouri Post by: pmull on May 10, 2013, 08:14:08 AM This is a huge series for the team. We need a series win at a minimum but a sweep would be better. We close the regular season at Vandy next week so we need to get our wins now. Our RPI is good but we need to get our SEC record to .500.
Weather will be an issue again this weekend. Quote The Alabama Crimson Tide (29-21, 11-12 SEC) will complete its 2013 regular season home schedule with a three-game series against the Missouri Tigers (15-28, 7-17 SEC) this weekend. The series between the Tide and Tigers will begin on Friday night with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m. CST, from Sewell-Thomas Stadium. Game two is scheduled for 1:05 p.m., on Saturday and the final game of the series will begin at 12:30 p.m. CST on Sunday. we were very close to blowing a 9 run lead in the last 2 innings but held on for a 9-7 win. It seems in our late innings we seem to score less and sometimes our pitching goes slack. I sure like our bull pen. RTR!

The late inning relief was good earlier in the year but lately they can not hold a lead. We should have won two games at Miss State last week but we gave up late innings runs and got swept.

You are correct, we not not play very well. We had 12 hits that only produced 3 runs. He got picked off base once, throw out attempting to steal and could not get a bunt down to move runners into scoring position. we also hit into three double plays with runners in scoring position. after all that we still left 8 runners on base. Defense was good but the pitching was not. We gave up 7 runs, all earned, on 11 hits. We also walked 4 and hit by pitch 4. We need to play better today. We got three runs in the 9th including a walk off double by Austen Smith.
We did not play well all weekend but somehow still win the series 2-1. We improve our record to 31-22, 13-13 SEC. No mid week games this week. We go to Vandy for a Thurs-Fri-Sat three game series. |
