The Southeastern Conference and ESPN on Thursday announced a 20-year agreement to operate a SEC network that is scheduled to debut in August, 2014.

SEC Commissioner Mike Slive said the SEC network will produce 1,000 live events each year, including 450 televised on the network and 550 distributed digitally. Slive says the network will carry approximately 45 SEC football games each year ''and a depth of content across all sports.''

I think there will be a huge consumer interest, driving providers to make the channel available.  The ESPN connection won't hurt either.

Their will be a huge interest but ESPN has to make their money back. Advertising will get most but I expect this network to be a premium package on cable costing the average fans like CRS members higher cable fees.

The Longhorn and Big 10 Networks are available on my cable now but I do not pay the extra fee to get them.

I would pay it, whatever the cost.  But don't tell DTV that.   :tinfoil:
