Title: More Bad Karma For Tide Basketball- TWO UPDATES
Post by: Marshal Dillon on May 02, 2013, 11:28:52 PM
I can not believe this. Absolutely unbelievable. You have to read this link.

Quote
Jesse Mae Pollard, a longtime teacher and mother of University of Alabama basketball player Devonta Pollard, appeared before a U.S. District Court judge today after she was charged in the kidnapping of a six-year-old girl in Kemper County, Miss.

Quote
Jesse Mae Brown Pollard, 54, of Northport appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Keith Ball in Jackson, Miss., today. The court ruled to detain Pollard pending action by a federal grand jury based on probable cause.

Quote
The penalty for kidnapping is a minimum sentence of 20 years and a maximum sentence of life in prison.

How do you spell dumb, I'm anxious to hear the reason for the kidnapping. I wonder how this will affect Devonta and his career in basketball.

Geez, when it rains it pours. One question though: I don't know all the facts of how it happened, but after reading the story, I wonder how on earth this woman was allowed by the school to take this child with her. I know at my son's school that only my wife and I are authorized to pick him up; he goes NOWHERE with someone else unless we notify the school ahead of time.

Pollard was an under achiever this year. He may have had issues going on with his Mother that contributed to his inconsistant play.

With or without family problems Devonta is about to get the month of May off and he needs to use this time wisely to get ready for a full summer of strength, conditioning and basketball workouts. CAG said in his press conference last week  that most of the players will return to campus in June to work together this summer.

These charges against his Mother do not look good.

Well, as CPPB used to say... my limited vocabulary does not permit me to express my true feelings on this situation...  I hope DP's teammates will close ranks and support him during this time of stress.  Just bizarre...

A couple thoughts:

1) At first the report was reading to me as if Ms. Pollard might've been trying to protect the girl from abuse by her mother, but that doesn't seem consistent with her just dropping her on the side of the road in the rain.

2) The report says they searched Pollard's son's car b/c it was seen at the hotel where the girl was being kept and at Wal-Mart where the "burn" phones were purchased.  It doesn't specifically say that it was Devonta though...but I'd imagine that it is he also has some 'splainin to do.

I saw this on FOX 6 News yesterday. I am really surprised at finding out it was a teacher and Devontas' mother that did it. Either way he is going to have to work harder, because he is going to have that NBA money sooner rather than later. RTR!

I messaged Releford before he left for KC on vacation. Sure hope he comes back. I'd kinda understand though if he does not. Sitting out a year will not help him at all.

What makes you think Releford will not be back? He is the bright spot of the CAG era. He just made All Conference and gets national exposure. His best option is to come back. Sitting out a year could end his career. He would be better off going to Europre to play pro ball than transferring.

Title: Re: More Bad Karma For Tide Basketball-UPDATE & MORE ARRESTS

This thing gets more bizarre by the day. Momma is crazy if you ask me.

Quote
Two more arrests have been made in connection with Tuesday's kidnapping of a 6-year-old Kemper County girl, The Clarion-Ledger reported.]

Quote
Family members said the kidnapping stemmed from a dispute between Pollard and the girl's mother, who are cousins.

Quote
Authorities said a woman walked into the school's library, called the girl's name and walked out of the school with the kindergartner.

Just didn't want him getting any goofy ideas. Transferring would not end his career, but as I earlier said, would not help him at all. Sounds like you ar sitting on pins and needles.

I think Pollard will not be ready for the season, if he even lasts that long. His mother will probably come to trial around December/January & I don't see how he can focus on BB. The fact the federal judge denied bond speaks volumes. The Feds aren't playing and she is in deep sheep. She is facing a minimum of 20 years and unless there are some HUGE circumstances we have not heard about, she is going down. Plus, she texted a threat to harm the child, which will add time to her sentence. I believe she is facing at least 25 years and that means she will actually serve 21 years, 3 months. I feel for the kid and I hope he is not involved in any way.

ANOTHER strange twist to the case! The school secretary is more guilty than the momma if you ask me.

Quote
Wanda Faye Dancy, 51, and Shamarius Ruffin, 25, were both arrested in Meridian in connection with the case, according to WLBT.

Dancy is the secretary at East Kemper Elementary School. She is accused of aiding the abduction by telling Pollard the child's location in the school and what Hopson was wearing, according to the criminal complaint.

What next, a UFO lands in Tuscaloosa?

Yeah, maybe. It was something like, "Just make sure you return to Tuscaloosa. The Tide is building their future around you. RTR"
