I was at the game in Tuscaloosa. We were playing the Druid Dragons, an all black high school which was winning their games by something like 20 or 30 points. They had a 19 year old 6'9" center. We blew them out 90-80 by shooting 57% from the field. I still remember most of the scoring by our guys.
SG-30 points PG-22 points C-16 points Here's what our starting five looked like: PG 6'2" SF 6'4" C 6 8 1/2" PF 6'1" (that's the correct size but he was built like the Hulk) SG 6'1" (http://www.ptc.dcs.edu/schools/hs/dhs/IMAGES/dhspage_images/indian.jpg) http://www.ahsaa.com/Sports/Basketball/History/BasketballPastStateChampionsBoys/tabid/1172/Default.aspx Title: Re: Time Capsule 1970 Post by: cbbama99 on April 25, 2011, 07:27:07 PM I was -5

I think you will have to pick a later year for these types of threads. We have too many snot-nosed kids on the forum who can't relate to a year like 1970 since they went to public school and have no knowledge of history. Try something like 1990, then they can relate to something intellectual like Metallica, Barenaked Ladies, Hank Williams Jr., or Motley Crue. Title: Re: Time Capsule 1970 Post by: SUPERCOACH on April 25, 2011, 10:21:59 PM Hey, I resemble that remark. I was born in 1971. :-[

You're right though, history kind of missed 1970. I went through the famous deaths list and didnt really recognize anyone. Title: Re: Time Capsule 1970 Post by: Old Tider on April 26, 2011, 06:54:51 AM Grammy went to Simon and Garfunkel's "Bridge Over Troubled Water."
The birth year for Mariah Carey and Minnie Driver and the Queen....Queen Latifah, that is. Title: Re: Time Capsule 1970 Post by: pmull on April 26, 2011, 07:59:32 AM I was in the 8th grade. I am too young to remember much. If you are older than me there is a good chance that year is foggy from the sex, drugs and rock & roll.

Was within one block of the Atlanta police station dubbed the "pig pen". They were there because the hippies reigned supreme from 10th to 14th street and all over Piedmont Park.
Title: Re: Time Capsule 1970 Post by: ricky023 on April 26, 2011, 01:51:26 PM Lordy Kupkake we are close in age huh? lol. I use to ride through there just to see what a Hippie looked like. I remember when they had that great painting of Jesus on the Wall down on 10th St. I believe that place is known as Cabbage Town now is that right! RTR!

Cabbage town is further south and east and closer to Grant Park. I think the 10th St area had a nickname but it escapes me! And yes, I'mm older than dirt! ;) Title: Re: Time Capsule 1970 Post by: Marshal Dillon on April 26, 2011, 10:03:32 PM (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/ac/Apollo_13-insignia.png) |
