Title: Basketball: Rumored SEC/Big 12 Challenge Match-ups
Post by: pmull on April 26, 2013, 09:25:45 AM
We know the SEC/Big 12 will play 10 games next year. These are the rumored matchups. If these rumors are correct there are some attractive matchups.

Vandy, Auburn, Miss St and Georgia get left out.

Let's talk about something else that doesn't involve transfers, basketball apathy and fired coaches. We're probably months before schedules for next season begin to take shape, but there is one thing we do know. The SEC and Big 12 will meet next season in a series of games making up one of those made for TV (ESPN) challenges. There will be ten games, five at the home of an SEC team and the other five at a Big 12 arena near you. The rumored match-ups have been kicking around the internet for about a week now. Again, these are nothing more than rumors at the moment so take with a grain of salt.

Alabama/Oklahoma
Florida/Kansas
Kentucky/Texas
Tennessee/Baylor
Missouri/West Virginia
South Carolina/Kansas State
Ole Miss/Iowa State
LSU/TCU
A&M/Texas Tech
Arkansas/Oklahoma State

It looks like they tried to match up as evenly as possible.

The SEC looks fine when paired up that way. But the TIDE product for next season hasn't taken shape yet, which worries me when matchups are formulated from last seasons record.

Wow! Several good-looking games. Kansas/Florida, Tide/Oklahoma, Missouri/W. Va., Kentucky/Texas.

I like these match ups. They are some great teams and coaches in the Big 12. I look forward to watching these games. RTR!

The rumors were wrong. We will not play Oklahoma. We will play Texas Tech in Tuscaloosa. This game was already on the schedule. TT owes us a return trip for going to Lubbock last year.

There are some good games, ours just is not one of them.

Don't know what A&M or OU return next year but if A&M can win that-- UF has home floor, Kentucky at Baylor should be UK. USCe and Missouri look good.

Anyway-- wins at the top are one way to measure these competitions-- of course overall wins another. But I am sure they expect to win. Be nice to set a precedent.

Bama could win over TT. With a new team it is best not to set them up for failure early in the season, against Kansas or Oklahoma. I don't guess we had any say so in the pairings anyway.
